I'm just wondering if anyone has any techniques they use to spot their super turnips? I always seem to end up wasting them if and when I grab them.

Dont throw them away so quickly until you learn to spot them faster

A good way to practice is to allot some time to put it on a two player vs match and just pull + smash down throw with c-stick down repeatedly. Using the c-stick will eliminate the chances of you throwing it away if it's good, since you have to move your thumb a considerable distance as opposed to using the same button as pulling or pressing A to toss them. It may seem boring, but just pull and down throw repeatedly for long periods of time and keep an eye on what you're pulling, it'll help you learn to recognize the turnips faster.
