Is this technique useful? Whatre some situations where a falco would waveshine? Is it worth learning?

Waveshining is beautiful with falco. It can be used when you hit your opponent to follow-up. Without waveshining, if your shine is DI'd, you will have a lot of trouble following up with an aerial. You can also use waveshining during shield pressure to move yourself behind your opponent. The only other situation I can think of right now is if your opponent is on a platform, you can jump up, shine them, then waveland on the platform for an almost immediate followup. Hope that helps :)

It is absolutely useful. It makes you have to commit way less to shine for one thing. For example, rather than trying to shine someone and then sh to dair or something or full jumping out, you can just wd back to where you can more safely pressure.
One great thing for comboing someone after you've hit them to just above a platform is jumping so you shine through the platform to hit them, jump out of the shine, and waveland onto the platform to stay close and keep the combo tighter.
Next time you dair someone when they're at mid-high % and shine them, instead of jumping out of the shine and trying to hit them with an aerial immediately or something, try wavedashing out of the shine and watching where they go before following up.

I thought it was necessary to waveshine if you even want a good followup. It is important for sure if you want to up your combo game.
