you cant jump out of shine instantly if you hit someone cus of hitstun i find that you can actually waveshine at a very relaxed pace with falco rather than fox so take a bit of time with it. what i do to practice is set the damage ratio to 0.5 (where you change game type and amount of stocks etc.) and set a bowser lvl 1 on FD and just keep waveshining him it becomes second nature soon enough. make sure to know if youve landed the shine or not the cus the timing changes slightly but enough to sometimes get you stuck in shine if youre not careful

^^^^ That helps practice the hitstun timings.

You should also practice shield stun timings which can be closely emulated in training mode and set the items to the invincibility star. You could also set items on very high so that you can use the c-stick. Or if you have a modded melee, training mode is the easiest IMO

Sorry if this has already been completely settled, but I thought I 'd chime in as well. In additon to working on chaining shines and SHFFLs, you can also work on some waveshining and shine grabbing with the Bowser. When practicing waveshining with this method, try to get the full distance on the wavedash so that you end up behind Bowser. The video below explains a lot of the problems newer players run into when learning how to exit out of a shine into their options. You probably already know, but meh, more information never hurts.
