Waveshine Surfaces

I've been beginning to notice that waveshining doesn't combo on certain surfaces and against certain walls. An example would be on Hyrule Temple; if you were to waveshine from the very right edge and go left, it doesn't combo. Normally Link would twist his body, but in this case he crouches. Also, when waveshining against the L-shaped wall (against the wall higher than your characters) on the right side, the shine forces Link into a crouching animation.

I can't get waveshines to combo against the wall on Corneria either...probably because it's slanted.

This seems to affect all other characters that I waveshine also.

yeah. these aren't real walls (has to do w/ slantedness, try walljumping on them). i recently considered making maps of where ppl can wallshine infinite.

Impact is also talking about Corneria, not just Hyrule. Scotu, what does walljumping have to do with it? You can walljump the slanted wall in Corneria but you can't wallshine infinite.

I didn't say you couldn't, i just said to try it. I didn't realize you could walljump on the bottom part of that though. i never tried. ok. So it's not correlated.

I've never had a problem on legal stages, but I've only noticed it on the far right flat area of Hyrule Temple, waveshining from the right to the left. Yeah it's not a legal stage anymore, but I'm just curious as to why your opponent reacts differently. Also waveshining down the short slope doesn't combo.

I'm guessing it's because even if your opponent is not sliding exactly horizontally, but even 1 degree down, he/she automatically crouch cancels? That's what it looks like.

well ppl have much less stun time when going downward (as if they were hit in the air). I'm guessing that this is a similar effect. Does this also apply to places like corneria?

Yeah, it also happens when waveshining from left to right on the longest slope. However, I've noticed that if the slope's too steep, then they're not forced into that certain crouching animation.

An example would be Yoshi's Island; your opponent gets stunned normally from the shine when shining them down either slope.

Edit: I was up all night on WoW, so I'm gonna go to bed. Don't expect relatively quick replies from me for the next few hours.
