So I was messing around with Marth and figured out you could waveland after a short hopped fair. I know this technique is common in a lot of Doc(bair)/Mario(bair)/Luigi(x-air)/Samus players but it seems like Marth might be able to do it too. I don't really see it in the modern Marth. For example, you can space with the fair then safely waveland backwards, or mix it up and fair back and waveland forward.

I'm sure a lot of people might not think it's a great idea since it hits shield opponents early, allowing them to shield grab before you land. There's also not that many options if you guys fair really early in your short hop and not do anything after.

What do you guys think about sh, fair, wl on Marth?

you can pretty much short hop fair into anything else
fair, bair, side b, dair, upair, first hit nair, double jump, waveland, air dodge, probably neutral b, up b

all that nonsense, it's an option like anything else, if you see a need for a waveland after a fair

for example if you shfair, and ur opponent rolls, you can chase that w/ a waveland

then do that, otherwise use it as a mixup i guess

ur in the air from ur SH for 38 frames, total
fair lasts for 33 frames, iasa frame 30
so then u have 8 frames to work with

so to correct myself;
no yea you can still pretty much do anything,

Thanks for the frame info. I've been drilling this to be more consistent, I think if anything it's a nice mixup. I figured I could do a waveland considering double fair is pretty common, there has to be some other uses for the short fair frames.

Now I'm trying to get <- Fair waveland -> to a Fair -> to a waveland <- and repeat. It looks cool and is very fast, but of course has little use. :)
