Well, we've got some people wondering about wavedashing and wavelanding and just what is up with that quickdodge think Metaknight did. And we've also got some people who are sure that wavedashing is gone, dead and buried, as well as people who believe the reverse. Never fear, there IS a compromise.
Wavelanding.
Think about it. The only real way to remove wavedashing is to cause airdodging into the ground to stop the character dead, as if they had perfect traction. However, this means that you can still airdodge from the air into the ground, just without a slide... meaning that wavelanding will still be a fast way to come down from the air and also grants some low lag invulnerability frames depending on the distance of the air dodge. It's also possible that you will still be able to waveland off edges and edgehog from it, because you can slide off to a hog even without a waveland in Melee. So don't fret, unless the mechanics of airdodging are drastically changed, there will always be a place in Smash for wave moves.

We should just have ONE OFFICIAL wavedashing thread, instead of all of these multiple ones...

There was one a long time ago that was constantly on the first page, but it has been inactive for a while.

Seriously, this thread was completely not necessary.

Wavelanding is not the same as wavedash. You're forgetting the benefits fox and falco get from wavedash

Wavedashing and wavelanding are identical except in how they begin. Wavedashing implies the character jumped before air dodging into the ground. Wavelanding implies the character fell from a high jump before air dodging into the ground. Otherwise, the process is exactly the same (air dodging into the ground).

My opinion on wavedashing:

If its in, people get their stupid 'i have no life beyond perfecting everything in my super smash bros brawl fighting style'

If its not, 'I have no life beyond finding another technique to use in perfecting my super smash bros brawl fighting style'

lol, as if tech skill is hard to do in melee, and it looks like itll be even easier in brawl since its gonna be slower, noobier, and mostly automatic from the looks of it so far.

ZOMG HOLDING DIAGONAL AND JUMPIN AND PRESSING L!!! TECHNICAL!

if you have trouble with the tech skill in smash, you probably suck at almost any competitive fighter out there since most of them have way harder techniques.

Winning is the hard thing in smash, theres a lot of strategies. waveshining and SHDL's are easy as heck.

Oh, no, that will be 75% of the players, 15% being kids and the last 10% for people who actually play video games for FUN

Well, I'm out of this topic, Wavedash topics are unsolvable and endless.
