messing around with some characters to find one that fits my style, been trying falco lately and i am having problems wavedashing and its bothering me. wavedashing is easy and i dont have any problems with other characters (marth/fox/sheik) but falco seriously doesnt want to do it. Is there somehting about him that makes this hard or am i just bad? Any tips? Thanks falco mains!

I don't think you're doing anything wrong you're probably not timing it right because you're used to wavedashing with characters that jump instantaneously Falco's squat animation after hitting the jump button is slightly longer than most characters so you might be just hitting L or R a little too soon

if you're jumping and air dodging, you're pressing it too late. if you're just jumping, you're pressing too early. That goes for any character.

Well, I'm just jumping, so that pretty much confirms that I'm not taking into account that falco crouch.
yeah his wavedash is a little slower than most characters similar to like how link and bowser leave the ground way after pressing the jump button except that falco lies somewhere between those characters and fox, samus ect. if your just jumping and not atleast air dodging you're probably just pressing the L button during his squat animation

This ^

Usually everything with falco is about timing rather than speed. You need to be fast but most of the times timing is more important. This may feel a bit difficult and annoying to adapt at first for you since it sounds like you have some finger speed already.

Unlike everybody else I can tell you a secret to master the wavedash with falco:

Patience, hard work and determination.

Timing>speed, something i will keep in mind while practicing. I figure i should get wavedashing down before trying other techniques like waveshining and such.
