wavedashing problems

Hey ppl, I'm new to smashboards but not new to ssbm and im a fairly decent player but i have been havin probalems lately with doin waveshines it seemss as if im shielding before i jump any help would be appreciated

The only thing you need to do is let go of the shield button faster when you initiate your wavedash part of your shine. I did the same thing and still catch myself doing it before I warm up some. Just keep the idea of a really short shield press as you waveshine. But also remember you need to press the sield button you use alll the way past the part where the shoulder button clicks. Other than that just keep working at it and it should come to you in good time.

When I started working on the advanced stuff, I had the same problem and Ashtten is right on. Just be sure to press the shield button all the way down but release it quickly. Also remember that the game has to register a jump in there too to cancel your shine. Work on being exact with the buttons and get it right before trying to make it fast. Speed will come with time.
