Wavedashing in place

I was wondering if it would be useful at all to wavedash straight down so you stay in place. I don't even know if this would work but I feel like it might help because if you were dashing you don't have all of your moves available to you, but if you wavedash in place at the end of the dash then it would open up more moves. (although people probably just do a wavedash forward instead of a dash forward + wavedash in place.) Also I was wondering about the general format of this board, is there a Q and A thread where everyone is supposed to ask questions? I don't want to spam the board with random questions threads if there is a better way to go about it.

what you can do is, i think its called dash cancel but im not sure about what its called exactly, but when you are full run you can release your control stick and then push it down and that will let you do all your moves, thats how people are able to run and down tilt so fast, wavedashing does the same thing but it is just harder.

It’s useful in some situations. You can choose the spot you want to land at out of dash / run more accurately this way than with wavedash forward, which always has you slide for quite a long time.
It’s also slightly superior out of shield compared to simply dropping the shield (1 frame less lag).

This kind of questions usually gets asked in the “Ask Dr, Peepee […]” thread. It’s stickied. If you want to know about frame data and the likes, you can also ask in my thread (stickied as well).

Thanks for the replies guys, I knew about cancelling the dash with a crouch if that's what you mean but it doesn't seem to work out of the initial dash animation.

Yeah I was thinking about using it to space better because I haven't quite grasped the spacing of Marth's wavedash. I never thought about using it to drop out of shield, I might start using that instead of just dropping shield.
Alright, I'll try not to clutter the board to much with questions like these. I'm just starting out so I'm not really sure how to apply frame data yet, but I know of its use from other fighting games so thanks for making that thread. :D
