hey! so ive recently been practicing techskill and ive been having problems transitioning between characters and being able to wavedash. i was practicing with fox, and i was wavedashing perfectly fine and decided to play as falco for a little bit. when i tried to wavedash in any situation, i would just jump which meant i was doing it wrong. the same happened with marth. i keep on having to adjust myself and how fast i press everything. does anyone else have these same problems? How do you prevent them?

Getting used to Wavedash timing is something that comes with time and experience. You were jumping, because you were pressing L or R too early. I don't have problems Wavedashing with any character.

Characters can have different timings for when they leave the ground on their jump animations. Fox and Marth have short jump squat animations, Falco's is a bit longer. You'll just have to develop 2 slightly different muscle memories for wavedashing

As a Falco and Fox main, one of the hardest things to do is switch between them because of the jump lag. Jump lag is one of the least mentioned and most important things for a character, it can determine your tech (wavedashing, shine stuff, etc.) and overall what speed you move at. I would say just toy around with Falco's jump lag and learn what frames to airdodge on and such.

Good luck with flattening out your wavedashing issues! d :mario64:

Fox's wavedash is the fastest. You jump then instantly air dodge. Every character in the game has their own timing, so you need to learn and practice all the different timings there are with any character you want to learn. The reason you failed to wavedash with falco is because you air dodged way too early, timing is key, not just the input itself.

Actually Fox has 3 frames jumpsquat, Marth 4 and Falco 5 frames, so you need to learn the wd timing muscle memory for each of those chars separately.
