recently I've been hearing people talk about how they use wired controllers because of wavebird latency. is there actually real latency? I can't imagine it making the difference of even a single frame. is there? I've only ever owned wavebird so can't compare, but I want to give myself every edge with smash u

I use the Wavebird controller and don't feel any critical latency. A wired controller is of course better so if you plan on playing super competitive you should pick the wired one. Has long has you don't have interference in the room you are in the Wavebird is still great.

People will tell you that there's a noticeable delay.

They're wrong.

You're fine to use a wavebird most of the time, places like tournaments and such won't work for most cordless controllers though

In small and unobstructed settings, they're generally fine (as much as my brother loves complaining that my head blocks his signal >.>), but in larger settings, interference gets worse, and you also have the limited number of channels to select.

I prefer wired just because I don't need batteries and really like the rumble feedback, but I don't require wired as much for GCN controllers as for PC hardware.

I think in the case of the Wavebird, with interference there's not going to be additional delay, your inputs will just get dropped.

I just did a side by side test of a wired controller and a corded controller, pressing jab with 2 Fox. it seems 100% the same. has anyone done any more official tests?

another question I have is; is there any advantage to having rumble? does it give you any earlier reads or information you wouldn't get visually?

Wavebirds are fine in small environments but take them to tournaments and the interference is too much.
For small stuff I prefer it though. Something about the weight.
