Well, I'm back with a new piece. I decided to work on a watercolour because the last time I had before this was nearly a year ago, and I wanted to take watercolouring to a new level.

Regardless of how it turned out, it was a fun piece because of it's relatively small size. It was a good chance to paint difficult details with an unforgiving medium, and well... I like it.

Hope you enjoy it.

Gorgeous : D I could never really get my head around watercolours, although I enjoy playing with them :]

Lovely scene, I really like how you've done the clouds, they seem so dense and...touchable. xD The details inthe mountains and tress is great as well :] How big was this piece?

Sorry, I should have replied earlier but I haven't been on the forums lately.

The actual painting is about 31.6 x 21.1 cm or 12 1/2 x 8 1/4 inches.
So something like a sheet of computer paper only a longer.

The paper is quite a bit larger though to give it a neat plain border, though you obviously can't tell by this photo :D.

Watercolour can be really fun and is approachable by artists of any level of ability. It's all about experimentation. If you really want to have fun with it, you'll likely be satisfied with the results.

Wow that's awesome, the best I could do is probably finger painting.

Hope to see more of your work, because this is amazing. :)

WOW. AMAZING.

one thing i can MAYBE give advice on is... well, i think you could have a tad bit more merging with different objects (trees with mountains, road with grass). they seem oddly seperate, and watercolor is more beautiful connected. basically just a little "blur" here and there.

(i.e. it's a VERY realistic painting, but watercolor is generally more merging and blurry)

but seriously, A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. i am AMAZED. XD

let's see, magnificent is another word to describe it :p.

LMAO! While that is oil painting, the fro's pretty close haha.

Yeah Cotton thanks for the advice. I didn't aim too much to make the landscape more aesthetically pleasing as a painting, but rather just tried to render it with watercolour techniques. I'm typically realistic in my art and usually strive for accuracy and technicality.

I'm nothing like a pro watercolour painter. They understand the paint and paper far better and can effortlessly depict whatever in strikingly unique and often simple ways.

In that sense oil painting is more my style, when it comes to painting but I still enjoy trying to apply my style to watercolour.
