TyDye
Crash Bandicoot for Smash!
Hello everyone! Obviously I am new to Smashboards so I thought I would get this out of the way.
My name is Tyler; Smash tag is "TyDye" a nickname given to me a while back by my best friend and fellow smasher. I have been playing the game since I was about 7 or 8 years old (Now 24) starting with Smash 64 two years or so before the release of Melee. I had played in tournaments for Smash 64 at my local "Game Crazy" before we ever had a Game Stop near me, competing for in store credit and bragging rights. My main in Smash 64 was Captain Falcon with an Alt of Fox . I loved their speed and heavy grab game which seemed very potent back in those days!
Fast forward to 2015:
With the release of Smash for Wii U I finally started to get back into the competitive scene. I picked up the game at midnight on launch day and instantly fell in love. Everything was just as good as I remembered! Before I knew it I was looking up videos on advanced techniques to improve my game and stumbled upon "The Smash Brothers" documentary. I watched the whole thing over the next two or three days! I never knew there was such a big scene for Smash! My main in Smash 4 is Toon Link with Alt's of Cloud and Jigglypuff (thanks largely to Hungrybox) These character all came very naturally to me and of all the game series sponsored in Smash 4 Legend of Zelda, Pokemon, and Final Fantasy are my favorites.
I played in my first (unofficial) Smash 4 tournament when one of my Army buddies hosted one during a 2 week drill. The rules were 2 stock, 6 minutes, random characters, random omega stages. We had 25 to 30 participants and I won without losing a set.
Since then I have played in 2 local tournaments taking 5th in my first after sending 2nd place to losers and going 0-2 in my most recent. I plan on attending at least 2 more events before my first major tournament "Smash n' Splash 2" I live in Wisconsin and am ALWAYS looking for more events! Invite me!
Outside of Smash I enjoy hanging out with friends and my beautiful fiancee, listening to music (anything other than country), watching movies / TV "Jurassic Park" "Star Wars" "Family Guy" "Pokemon" and "Community" are my favorites, and of course playing video games. I mostly play RPG's, Survival Horror's, RTS's, and Sports games.
Thanks for taking the time to listen to my story and I hope to talk to you all in the future!
