By wall-jump stages, I mean stages like Ω Onett where the edges are vertical walls instead of it being a floating platform.

I am personally a huge fan of wall-jump stages, and I wish more tournament-legal stages had a wall-jump form. It gives characters that otherwise had a limited recovery (Little Mac, Dr. Mario, etc.) a better chance, and it prevents annoying stage spikes and stalling strategies from happening. Also, of my mains, secondaries, and pockets, only Donkey Kong can't wall jump, so I may be a bit biased.

Thoughts?

I think they're pretty interesting, they offer a bit of diversity in topography which is very appreciated.

Of course, I don't play a character with a wall-jump, but I can see how the technique is useful for certain others.

I love it!
Sheik can stay for a while like other characters and troll people, Shulk can't but my other mains can! so yeah I like it.

100% for, but not exactly for the wall jumps.

See, Charizard is one of my mains (the other being Mewtwo because apparently I'm a glutton for punishment XD) and having a wall underneath the stage makes it so that if I Flare Blitz off of the stage, I can Flare Blitz back and return more easily, whereas a return Flare Blitz would put me underneath an FD-style omega stage.

This gives me a little bit more leeway to be bold with some occasional hard reads on rolls or ledge getups or whatever. It's not a HUGE difference, but it does help.

^ Above reminded me that walls can be interesting for Pit's up-b.

On the one hand, you've got a stable surface to "hug" when you travel, so there's no risk of hitting the direct underside and dropping your recovery.

On the other hand, it's very easy to punish Pit with that kind of vertical trajectory. A character like Falcon (d-air) or Villager (f-smash) can punish it no problem, even more than they can on a gradient.

It keeps things interesting. Just gotta go with it the same as you go with any stage!

I'm for them.

Little Mac gets miles off wall jumping.

I'm for wall-jump stages since they add to a player's strategy in my opinion, both when it comes to recovering and planning out a move.

I'm for it as a counterpick, since I think both wall jump stages and stages characters have their places..

Say a Rosa main (as much as it can be boring to watch) travels under Smashville or other Ω stages to stall time until Luma arrives, it would make sense to counterpick a walled stage.

You have to remember that BF, SV, T&C, FD and DH all have the ability to Wall-jump.

Not only that, if you have a character with good recovery you can come to these stages agaisnt characters with a straight down knockback Spike and if you get hit by it close to the wall You just DI in, walljump tech off the wall and recover. You have no idea how many times his has saved me agaisnt characters like Falcon for Example.

My characters don't need em (ZSS can wall-jump but her recovery is already so good in general I rarely use it) but I don't see why anyone would be against them, aside from wanting to limit recovery options for characters like Doc and Little Mac.

The only one of these stages that really have useful walls for recovering is DH, which for that reason is one of my favorite stages.
There are reasons to WJ on these stages though. Several advanced movement things can be done, and it is a good mix-up.

True, but with actual wall-jump stages it more easily helps recovery and prevents stage spiking and stalling, and these movement techs can mostly still be done. I can see the reason why a character would want to avoid a wall-jump stage, but I think more characters would like them than dislike them, and it seems unanimous at the moment. (This could actually be a cool stage toggle setting, not unlike omegas and hopefully at some point no-stage-hazard gammas.)

If more wall jump stages were tournament legal, it would become a great strategic choice for stage striking. I especially would enjoy some wall jump stages since it helps with Luigi's recovery (since his side b can stick to the wall).

I think sticking to the wall for Luigi would be bad considering how open he would be to a spike, but I mean to each his own.

It does, but Luigi's recovery is easily gimpable anyway, so it means you have the choice of sticking to the wall as opposed to just going for the ledge and getting spiked.

Hmm... Interesting... I believe that wall-jump stages have a little bit more interesting edge play, but other than that I really don't have an opinion.

I really like this idea. All of a sudden, Doc and Mac would have actual recoveries and there would be much more interesting off-stage play. I'm all for it!

Wall jump stages are a big help for Mewtwo since his recovery can hug the side of the stage (preventing any SDs) and wall jumps help out his recovery and off-stage presence.

Defiantly helps a few of the characters I use. Having a few wall jump stages into the mix can give some sort of edge to a few characters in terms of mix-ups in the air which is nice.

Not against, but not entirely a follower of them per se. I'm glad there's variety, for sure. But otherwise for me it's just eh. I barely ever use wall jump as it is.
