Or at least, they definitely tried to.

Check out this http://www.twitch.tv/hamayama/b/567404573 at around 43 minutes in. You'll see the player spamming his Mii Brawler's rapid jab on the credits... and accelerating backwards! It looks like they implemented a system similar to that of many other fighting games, where if your target can't be pushed back by the hit, you will be. This seems like a great thing to have in Smash, moreso than in other fighting games. We might be able to legalize stages with walls for tournaments! And that would be downright AWESOME.

P.S. Mods, if there's any better place where this post should be (like in another thread on the exact same topic), please move it there.

This is wonderful news if it really does mean that they're gone. Considering the steps they've taken to remove chain grabbing and jab locks, I wouldn't be surprised by this. :)

I'll kinda miss it from the stance of trolling around with my friends and teaching them to DI, but it's a good change.

Tell me about it. Whenever I play a hardcore match with my brother and I get him against a wall, I'll get a few hits in and then retreat. However, when we're just goofing off, I've taken him to over 500% and gotten him to storm out of the room angrily. Still, it's a great idea to remove wall infinites, because there are very few situations where they're actually a legitimately good thing.
