This is a pretty wacky question for a pretty wacky situation I am currently in. I am an American with an American Wii Console but am living in Japan. I saw Sakura's note about having some slowdown when playing from America to Japan. I was wondering if when I sign into a WiFi match against random people will it choose American or Japanese players to go up against? Is it based on the connection or the console region? I remember playing several Japanese players on Tetris and Mario Kart WiFi. I am assuming the same system will be in Smash Bros.

I was just wondering this because I will be playing on WiFi often and if it keeps setting my matches up to fight people in America... pretty much every match will have connection/lag issues. Anyone have some insight on this? I know its a pretty wacky question. I wonder if you can set a regional or worldwide feature... I am trying to think they will use the same system as WiFi DS but from the way Sakura is describing it, it seems even more barebone then the DS WiFi titles.

B.) Peeps just don't care

*1-2 minutes later the message was posted with replys saying "Yep, its B"

i cant answer your question with 100% confidence, but i think your Wii would be able to detect your ip address and match you up with local players to play against

I think that NIntendo games, brawl included, will search for the closest available games. . .just a guess though

Im glad to hear about the IP thing. Only thing is, I remember in America when I played Tetris, I always faced Japanese people. I dunno if it was the time of day or what. It just seemed I ran into a lot of Japanese people. I guess that made me think that it might not be IP based. Because there is a regional or worldwide setting. But if I would be playing other Japanese who are close to my connection, that would be great.
