So I'm a pretty well versed Falco by now I've been maining him for many months now, but I still have more trouble with floaties (Marth, puff, samus) than others. I feel like if I get a shine, I can't do anything except wait. Double jump pillaring can work but by hitting them with the dair up high they're out of hitstun and can hit me as I'm coming back down. With waveshining they're out of hitstun before I come up to dair. I try to use utilt in lou of shine as frequently as possible but it's still difficult. Anyone have any tips on the neutral and combo game?

Floaties are kinda case-by-case. The best that can be said in general is that it's easier to kill them off the top but don't disregard killing them with dair if the opportunity arises. Dtilt and shine become okay kill moves. The game's more about laser control and finding some damage and racking up % for a kill move, but you can still combo pretty hard. Is there a particular matchup you're thinking of?

I'll use Marth as an example. My main problem isn't killing, but more so the combo game. Despite using utilt in lou of shine whenever possible, shine feels near useless to me. When I double jump jc out of shine to follow up with dair he's out of hitstun before he hits the ground then aerials me, and if I waveshine instead he's out of hitstun before I come up and dair.

Classic laser->aerial shine poke on shield seems to have no follow ups.

I know PP goes Marth against Marth now, so I searched PewPew vs Westballz. I follow PP closer than Westballz, so idk about any other super good matches except the one I sent you.

PP had some great sets vs. Armada in Germany I think and PP vs Hbox is always good to watch, though somewhat painful lol.

My general advice to people that are having trouble comboing floaties is to think that you're fox for a moment. What that means is that you should start looking more for nair strings, uptilts and also try to grab more often. forward and up throw are great as shown in the video of the 4th post.

Also dair + waveshine strings are possible on marth if he's DIng away and you're quick enough.

(is old but it works if you're good on timing)

when you combo floaties, if you are planning to dair, delay it as much as you can. the timing is pretty tight and takes a bit of practice but the goal when comboing floaties at early percents with shine --> dairs is to time the dair so that you hit them right as they get out of hitstun, but before they can put out a hitbox. its definitely doable with platforms. after that then yea you can follow up with uptilt/shine/whatever.
