I was wonder if characters in the Subspace Emissary will speak, some charactes speak a lot in their games (Sonic, Fox, Snake) and it would be wierd see them quiet , thought I dont think the SE will be voiced. and you?

Well, with all the clips so far, there hasn't been any voice acting at all. Last I checked, Pit HAS a voice, and so does Mario, but when they meet? No talking. They look into each other's eyes and understand the whole situation immediately.

And Fox can talk too... so why doesn't he give his signature "Come on!" to Diddy? I say there isn't any voice acting in SSE at all.

I don't think so. I really don't see characters like Link talking in full sentences all of a sudden. I hope they'll just have small grunts and stuff like that, just no full convo's.

I don't see there being a huge amount of dialogue and them portraying the story (or what there is of one) through graphic and emotion.

Nintendo heroes typically do not speak to achieve that feeling of the main character being "you". I can't see them turning that around for a fighting game, something with even less storyline than the mainstream games.

that's similar to the reason why I think it won't be voiced, execpting for the "fighting game" part, I haven't think on that.

probably not as you can plainly hear fox is voiced by his japanese VA and if he isn't talking it would be weird if snake and sonic did plus i don't want sonic to talk unless they get ryan to voice sonic (yes i'm one of those)

I think characters who use speech in their respective games should be able to talk in this game. Obviously Link is a silent protagonist, and Mario utters only a few yells and lines per game, and a character like Snake should have as much speech in the Subspace Emissary as he does in his transmissions to his team. Fox also deserves plenty of voice acting.

If you've played their games, you should know who should talk and who shouldn't.

I agree with spellman, characters that talk in their own games will talk in sse and characters who dont, won't. Simple as that...though i cud be wrong.

I think we can expect the following confirmed characters to talk to some degree:

Mario
Sonic
Wario
Peach
Pit
Meta Knight
Dedede (?)
Snake
Ike
Zelda (maybe)
Fox
Samus

Let me know if I forgot any.

Kirby can talk, but he's got a baby's vocabulary XD In Melee, he says stuff like "Hi!" "Hya!" "Toryah!" "Pichu!" "Pikachu!" "Purin!" "Falcon... PUNCH!" (Though that last one is messed up when he says it). He also talks (again, barely) in the JP anime... but not in the 4Kids dub.

Mario can talk. If you pre-ordered Galaxy from GameStop, you got a message from him talking about his game and saying how awesome GameStop is. It was actually weird hearing him speak coherent sentences.

That said, I think Brawl's going to be more of a silent protaginist(s) deal.

I really didn't even get it. Mario can talk, have you been paying attention to the guys games? Thought I should say that.....

I think the SSE is going to be the ol silent thing. Legend of Zelda anyone.....

He can say more than that, but it just sounds awkward:

You're right though, he generally doesn't carry out conversations in his game.

I agree with Spellman I think if they don't speak in their own game they shouldn't speak at all only grunts and battle cries. I think it would be weird to see Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf (if he's in) all of the sudden have voices. Mario and his gang should be confined to their short sentences and such. Snake on the other hand has to speak it wouldn't be Snake if he didn't.

I think in SSE there will be very little speaking though.

I think Peach might talk in the subspace emissionary, after all she spoke at the start of super mario 64. Even if she doesn't I think we can expect a good few screams from her.

While we're at it, who thinks Bowser will kidnap peach like Wario kidnaped Zelda in the emissionary video. I can really imagine it happening.

In "Pit's Descent", there is absolutely no voices.
I don't think that Pit would say a word (either Palutena is saying nothing !).
Pit talks. As for the video, they might have done that to make it that Pit understands Palutena's goddess silence.

Oh look I changed this
This s kind of the reason I think the SE won't be voided:

*Pit Finds Mario in the clouds*
-Pit: HI welcome! how do you came here?

-Mario: I was fighting with a ball with arms that have a blackhole inside his belly in a giant floating coliseum while a magical princess who can transform into a he/her/it/potatoe entity and a girl who dresses pink that pulls out alive vegetables from the flour were watching.

-Pit: oh... that's kind of...

-Mario: Wait I havent finish yet!!! after that the sky suddenly got covered with a purple bubble-like cloud that have inside a battleship with bat wings, then it dropped some wierd bubbles and they morphed into an army of zombie-like enemies.

-Pit: ..... so you are basically....

-Mario: WAIT! then the battleship throwed a bomb and two little robots activate it, I was heroically going to stop it, but a giant piranha plant who can barely talk knocked me the hell out.

-Pit: *****??

Sonic already talks in the Subspace Emmisary..

"Sonics the name speeds my game"

I doubt they would make that scene just for the trailer.

So you're implying that everything that happened in the very first trailer (the Meta Knight vs Pit fight, Wario's nuke fart, etc) will in fact, 100% be in the Subspace Emissary?

Anyways, I think there will be some voice acting in the story mode. We know Meta Knight has a (cool) voice for his victory taunts, and there are Snake's codec conversations. I just don't expect a lot, even from characters such as Snake and Sonic.

My reasoning on why Fox didn't talk to Diddy is that Diddy Kong is, in fact, a monkey. Why would a sentient anthropomorphic canine capable of human speech talk to a random monkey? (Well, I guess for comedic effect, but still...)

did i ever say that, that video was implying subspace emmisary. If you want to be gay and be the devils advicate do we know that Sonic is even blue or for that matter even a hedgehog. Sonic may just be painted blue and really be red.

Yeah dont start being illogical aor ill slaughter you with illogical debate.

sort of a shame!? if i have to hear jason griffith butcher the role of sonic to understand the story than i'm not gonna care what happens in the story maybe if i get what i want (points to sig) but snake and fox would be cool but probably not fox as he has his japanese VA for his grunts and stuff
