vMelee and vBrawl tournaments still exist?

You'd think Project M would render both redundant because it fixes the high-level balance problems that both have while rewarding people for skill, but the fact that vMelee and (even more so) vBrawl tournaments still actually exist baffles me.

Dedicated fans have already fixed the issues with both games: Melee has SD Remix: every bit as offensive, even faster, yet even people who like the mid/low-tiers will have an easy time playing it.

Brawl has Balanced Brawl: slow, defensive, easygoing, but the Mighty Glaciers aren't as underpowered as they infamously were and the incredibly wide gap between the good and bad characters is closed. And there's no more random tripping to ruin your day like the Blue Shell in Mario Kart.

Both mods are fairly easy to install on a Wii, why not adopt those two?

For one Project M is not a replacement to Melee. It's far too different.
Balanced Brawl never was picked up because of the poor marketing/advertising. Same for Melee SD Remix. Also Melee is more than fine the way it is now, it doesn't need an update. We are still finding new ways to play all the time. It's really too early to talk about SD Remix IMO

Keep telling yourself that. The only reason you think that is because Gamecube hacking is incredibly hard to do and inaccessible to those with just a Gamecube.

The Wii has eased the accessibility to the small number of Gamecube hacks thanks to genius programmers.

Melee is NOT perfectly fine when there's a far superior alternative. SD Remix makes it so that final matches are no longer limited to the Star Fox characters, Jigglypuff, and Marth.

It may just me being biased, but I said SD remix had a marketing issue because I only found out about it very recently. As a smash enthusiast I would expect to know something like this sooner, right? Anyway, I guess you are right about Game Cube hacking, but couldn't you hack the Wii to play Melee SD remix? Is that impossible?

And yes, I know that SD Remix's promotion is limited; that's why I'm really working to spread the word of it.

For one, it's a mod so no chance at Evo or anything.

Second is people like both games as is.

Smash 4 is going to phase out Brawl is that isn't going to keep on that strong.

Melee still offers thing PM doesn't so I wouldn't call it a replacement.

How legal is it to hold PM tournaments anyway? Those are a thing, and in any case, SDR tournaments should be MORE legal since the changes to Melee are more minor.

Another thing, the only reason PM got the hype it did was because much of PMDT's staff doubles as the staff of this very website. You bet your *** that they would take advantage of this.

More issues legally than any other game being held Grassroots wise. No large tournament will host it as a result.
