whenever i run ie explorer or firefox they quickly become unresponsive and when i am trying to close windows and tabs it just copies more. symantec autoprotect keeps quarentining new instances of bloodhound.exploit.196. in its first instance it cleaned it, but now only quarentines it. full scan doesn't detect it and windows defender doesn't. i tried to follow the website's advice to run a scan in safemode but the antivirus won't run the scan in safemode. i run vista. anyone got any tips or reasources to help? i would have reinstalled the os, but i can't find the cd.

Like Norad was trying to say, give another antivirus program a shot. AVG is a good choice as well.

When you do run the second antivirus, make sure that Symmantec is disabled. Go to Start, then in the search bar on the bottom, type "msconfig" (no quotes). Go to the tab that says "startup", and uncheck everything. Then restart.

Now download and run AVG.
