Virtual Dub help

I'm having difficulties recording videos with virtual dub. My videos are unclear, skip frames, or fast forwards, and not to forget that the audio isn't synced properly and fast forewards or slows down.

I use a FFDshow codec for video compression (recrording at 784kps)
Audio uncompressed
Recording 29.97 frames

If anybody has a better set-up, please guide me through

i use virtual dub quiet a bit and i don't use any compression. the only thing i do with virtualdub is while in capture mode i click on the video tab and go down to capture filter. there i check on VCR input. im not too sure what it does but my friend says it can get rid of wierd lines. i hope this helped.
