Stuck between a parallel dimension of code and you
Hey there, I just bought a digital camera, the Panasonic Lumix. (I forget the model number, it was LZ something, it's at circuitcity.com)

anyway, i seen that it had video recording, so that was a plus. i plop the camera on a stack of videogame cases, ('cause it won't hook up to the tv to record, it just plays back on the tv and comp) and recorded a match of me pwning a level 9, just to test it out. when i transferred it to the comp, it was like 200 megabytes. i went to upload it to photobucket, but after 15 min of waiting it didn't even move from 0%. i was thinking about youtube, but i'm not too sure if i wanna use it.

'cause i want the video to just be instant-view, no downloading. so....any help for this? It's a .MOV file, if that helps. I just want to know if Youtube.com would be worth signing up for and uploading it. and also, is there a way i can cut the file size? 'cause 200 megabytes is gonna be over the limit for youtube i'll bet.

anyway, i hope somebody can help me with this, 'cause i wanna find an spot to upload all of my vids, and i'm just wanting to know if youtube would be easy enough to use, and, again, i wanna know how to cut the the file size.

I am going to start looking as if I am whoring for it, but if it is possible to convert it it to divx, try to upload it it to http://stage6.divx.com/
Youtube is cool and everything, but it's a quality killer.

To convert .mov into a divx, you need this: http://www.radgametools.com/down/Bink/RADTools.exe

Once installed, launch the program and select your .mov video and click on "convert a file":

You should then see this screen with the name of your video with an .avi extension. click on convert (note that you can redefine the audio and video, don't touch at it if you are not sure about it):

choose the codec Divx:

And its done. It should now be easily donwladable at http://stage6.divx.com/

(Note: I used a fast translation of this French page to realize this howtodo:

Divx compression w/ mp3 audio ftw. match in under 20 Meg.

EDIT: Total Video Converter is also good.

But VirtualDub is the best for splitting matches and divx compression/ capture.

Can you upload DivX videos to youtube? I still want my videos to go onto youtube, but I don't want each video to be over 100 MB... what else could I do to compress it besides DivX if it doesn't work for youtube?

Nevermind. It's still a little crappy. Wait a moment that I toy with DR divx and I'll tell you all how to keep the quality.

if you hook up your digital camera to your PC, then go into WMM and hit the capture from video device button, and you'll be able to record it with WMM

you'll have to go to playback on your camera and play the match that you had, and it should appear in WMM, so when you see it there, just hit record.
