For a while, me and my friend have been looking at the Kongo Jungle stage and wondering why it hasn't been allowed in tournaments. We can't really find fault with it, other than the barrel underneath the stage, but even that would have only a minimal impact on the match.

Anyone have thoughts/agree/disagree with the concept of having Kongo Jungle as a tourney stage?

Kongo Jungle, as in, NOT Kongo Jungle 64.

The one with the DK rap in it that also has the barrel.

It has something to do with that rock on the left. It's risky to approach a player on it, and trying to stop someone who's abusing ledge invincibility has added risk now that there is no platform there.

This ends up becoming a degenerate match of taking the lead and camping the platform.

That makes sense. Although, to me, it seems riskier to camp on the rock than approach. For a lot of characters, it seems hard to have a lot of options when you're actually on the rock; Sheik probably has the best rock options, or Peach. But it seems like all it would take would be a simple shine to get someone of the edge, for instance. Or a well placed bair or fair, or something.

Maybe. But still, I feel like it wouldn't be that hard to get them off.

The stage's blast lines are irregular to the main area of the stage, with the one on the left being really close to the stage and the one on the right being really far from the main platform causing players to mostly KO off to the left of the stage. The Barrel Cannon below the stage affects ones recovery to a mostly negative result, with very few positive results coming from it. The klaptraps are also a stage hazard that can really cause a problem when one gets off stage. Players can really camp a lot at the rock on the right side. Also, iirc, the blast line at the ceiling is relatively close to the top platforms.

I think this stage should probably remain banned

Ah, okay. That makes a lot of sense, actually. Now that your bring up these points, I can see why it probably shouldn't be used.
