Ongamers, the recently launched CBSi initiative to cover the world of eSports, interviewed VGBC | Dr. PeePee at Apex 2014. The site typically covers League of Legends, Starcraft 2, and DOTA 2 with occasional coverage of other games. Rob "Slasher" Breslau was on site at Apex 2014 doing interviews and the VGBC | Dr. PeePee feature is the first material released. Dr. PeePee, or PPMD, tells the story of overcoming adversity, performing under pressure, and what it takes to win the Championship at the largest Smash Brothers tournament the world has ever seen. Just getting to this point, as a community, wasn't easy.
Dr. PeePee explained to Ongamers that "Melee has had a rough history. It's been deep, rich, fun, and exciting to learn about. But it has not been easy. We had to claw our way up to finally get MLG exposure and then it was taken away. Then Brawl came out and we died. Then we got this crazy rebirth from the documentary. We finally got into EVO, then almost got shut down, which then turned into the most viewers ever for a Smash tournament. It's an underdog hero story of a game if there ever was one."
