Veterans you hope will never get cloned in the future?

As of Smash 4, Mario, Pikachu, Fox, Captain Falcon, Marth, Link, and Pit have all shared the unfortunate fate of having full on clones of themselves who share the same movesets and attacks thus no longer having the right to stand out.

There’s plenty of unique veterans out there who have the potential to have their own clones. (DK & Funky, Peach & Daisy, Samus & Dark Samus etc)

Is there anyone you’re hoping will stay original till the end of time?

Not counting semi-clones btw since I find Ness & Lucas debatable.

With so much focus on fan service, I don't see it happening at all. Semi-clones are also a thing y'know.

Got me thinking which characters else I never would wanna see Echoed...

Exactly. And look at Daisy's trophies. Some of them compared her to Peach.

This is Daisy's Melee trophy.

"The princess of Sarasa-land, Daisy met Mario when he helped defeat the evil alien Tatanga in Super Mario Land. Princess Daisy is a bit of a tomboy when compared with her counterpart, Princess Peach. After her appearance in Mario Golf, some gossips started portraying her as Luigi's answer to Mario's Peach."

Daisy's SSB4 trophies compare her to Peach. No wonder she ended up as an Echo Fighter.

Dixie Kong's trophies don't even compare her to Diddy Kong at all.

Wii-Fit Trainer I guess? There is no possible candidate that can be a clone of her though unless they made male wii fit his own character.

Out of the 66 confirmed characters, there are 3 characters that play very very very similarly to someone else. That's a little under 5 percent of the roster. Everyone else that players would also consider clones have received changes with every new game making them even less similar to their counterpart to the point that they really don't play the same anymore. Sure they may have similar moves but the properties of those said moves are so different. Ness and Lucas for example are like opposites in a lot of ways because their attack properties contrast each other. They really don't feel or play similarly at all.

But anyway, I know a lot of people don't care for the echoes. But it's not like they're taking up a spot on the roster that could've been given to someone else. They're just easy additions and they're good for when you find a character that doesn't suit you, but you still like their style. You just need something else. Like back in the brawl days, I liked Link but I preferred his counterpart Toon Link because I favor fast characters rather than ones that deal more damage. So it was nice having the best of two worlds there. I have a character with similar moves to Link but is also fast.

My only gripe with clones in the past have just been Lucina and Dark Pit. When the differences between an original and their clone is hard to see than it's a problem. There have never been clones from previous titles that have had such little differences. Well perhaps Melee Doctor Mario could contend. I forget how different he was to Mario beside the side smash and pills. Lucina and Dark Pit feel like they had very little thought put into their move properties and I hope that changes in Ultimate. If it doesn't it's really no big deal. There's gonna be seventy something other characters to use anyway.
