Geno is wanted because he was so awesome and cool in Super Mario RPG. A game which you obviously haven't played since you hate him.

And as for another Link, it would be cool if Wind Waker Link replaces Young Link with a changed moveset. The characters of Twilight Princess Link and Wind Waker Link are very different visually and they are also from separate times so they aren't the same person. Phantom Hourglass is also more popular in Japan than Twilight Princess was so I could see how Japanese fans would want him also. So he has a great chance of getting in the game.
