Vanilla Shulk Discussion

It's pretty apparent that a lot of the people here have been talking about Shulk's MArts, and for a good reason. His MArts set him apart from every character and pretty much make Shulk who he is. He's a character that can basically do everything, but at a cost. However, I think some discussion regarding Vanilla Shulk would be nice. After all, Vanilla Shulk pretty much is Shulk at his very basics and if you can't play Vanilla, then it is difficult to play any other version of Shulk. So, what advantages does Vanilla Shulk have? Any decent strategies that he should be exploiting? Feel free to discuss anything else that is Vanilla Shulk related in this thread.

Shulk's Custom Special Hyper Monado Arts or HMArts for short, holds key to this topic's meaning because most of the time you're playing Vanilla Shulk anyway. HMArts last averagely anywhere in the 5 - 7 second range making them extremely short-lasting & even more situational. So for the HMArts strategy, you're playing Vanilla Shulk most of the time to set up those circumstances that a certain Art can execute it's purpose:
e.g. HMAJump for when you launch them off-stage high or low.

So with that in mind, Vanilla Shulk when mastering the character first before Arts gives you the most control even if the mobility stats & Vanilla's everything is decent if not above average of a character. We'd have to give out general stats of Vanilla Shulk to get a general discussion out, so for example:

Weight:102

Shulk is in the top 14 - 16 of Sm4sh's weight rankings out of 51 when we exclude Shulk's MArt's weight values, so range-wise Vanilla Shulk is a mid-heavy character on his own because it's not that big of a number that would define Shulk as a flat-out heavy character.

Idk any other in-game values other than that, stopping my discussion for now.

U-Smash kills Jiggs around 80-95% assuming DI and its DACUS is apparently the same distance regardless of stance so its great for Vanilla kill confirm.

Also the U-throw U-tilt does work just fine on Vanilla on some chars.
