Vandalism. Everyone's seen it, and you could say it's part of our everyday lives. The school desk you sit at covered with doodles and vile language, bus benches scribbled with crude graffiti, and pretty much every public thing imagined.
This type of vandalism is something I saw on a day to day basis, but I always scoffed away, looking at it as nothing short of someone with too much time on their hands. Vandalism never bothered me. It wasn't until a friend of mine's car was recently damaged that it really got to me. What had happened was someone threw a coffee mug at my friends car (from what seems like a drive by, because of the angle and the fact that the mug shattered to a million pieces).
My friend very recently paid off his car, and had it in the shop for a really long time. Finally getting it out the Friday before the previous, he has to bring it back to the shop, and costing him a lot of money in the process (We don't know how much it'll cost. If anyone who's familiar with this and can give a rough estimate, that would be awesome.) It's also a cobalt ss if anyone cares.
Now, obviously this stuff happens everywhere, but I live in a fairly nice neighborhood in a really small city, and for this to happen outside the city's ghetto is surprising to say the least. I guess this is one of things that you don't really care much for until it happens to something that's precious to you or your friend. I donno, I was really pissed when I saw it, and you can expect my friend was cursing till he was blue in the face.
