Uses of the gamepad

Here I thought of a possible use for the gamepad:
Invisible player mode:
One of the players is invisible but s/he can see himself in the gamepad screen. The other players are teamed up against him/her.

I don't know how I feel about this. It seems like a weird function, but it seems pretty cool.

This is actually a pretty good idea!
To be honest, Smash isn't really a game that could make good use of the gamepad. Even Sakurai was using the Pro Controller in the Developer Direct, so that just shows that this game doesn't extensively use the gamepad as a controller :)

Man that sounds awsome. I can see me and my friends playing this when we aren't playing competitively.

Good idea.
I dont think the gamepad will be used, it may display percentage and what character you are using though
It also may act as a way of playing "without the tv" like a lot of games are doing with the pad.

That's a good idea but instead of a game mode it should revive an item. Remember the cloaking device from melee, and how it sucked? http://www.ssbwiki.com/Cloaking_Device

Well the person that is invisible could pick up the gamepad and he could see himself and all the other players, while the players looking at the screen can't see him.

Perhaps there can be an optional mode where a dead player can tap in certain areas to drop items or bombs during an ongoing match, slightly affecting the outcome of the match. Of course, it should be very limited to prevent it from being overpowered. It could be akin to bomb on wheels in Mario Kart 64 battle mode. And imagine it in Team Battle. To be able to fight alongside your partner instead of sitting there bored would be great.

Actually, it doesn't necessarily have to be a dead player. There could be 4 players + 1 gamepad user. The gamepad user could once again tap to drop items and bombs. Either that, or he could interact with the environments to do various things. Imagine being able to create temporary clouds that players could stand on in the Yoshi's Island stage. Oooh, taking control of the Halberd and cruising through space, changing the environment while others fight would be cool too. In the Wario Ware stage, the gamepad player could choose what microgame the characters will need to face next. I'm not sure how this would exactly work, but imagine being able to actually DRAW the battlegrounds on the Pictochat stage.

I like this idea! It'd be a nice feature, although I recall reading somewhere that Sakurai said there won't be many uses of the Gampad for Smash 4.

What if there was a Multi-Player classic and the player got to control Master Hand at the end? :troll:

I liked the Coin Arcade minigame from Brawl, and was addicted nabbing as many trophies as I could every round. I could see this returning for SSB4, borrowing the innovation of a certain Nintendo Land game.

For anyone who never played Nintendo Land, for this minigame, you held the gamepad 90 degrees to target enemies on-screen and slid the stylus across to chuck throwing stars. Just replace enemies with trophies and throwing stats for coins and boom, Arcade minigame returns.

I believe this is highly unlikely, i think sakurai said there won't be much use for the gamepad/touch screen
