So I went to Hyper Japan recently in london and it was sponsored by Nintendo that ran a whole gaming section and competitions there.

It had an Amiibo team smash comp. If I had brought a custom Amiibo, would it have been okay? Should it be okay? I mean its MY amiibo, so long as its purely cosmetic. I think I can change it as I see fit and join it in competitions.

I want to buy a Mii gunman amiibo soon and replace it with an Inkling model on top. Because the Amiibo character I'm using is my Inkling Mii. I want to bring it in competitions as a statement on my desire to have an Inkling character in smash eventually.

And until then I want to fight along side my pretty much non-competitive Mii gunman amiibo (that at first glance looks like an inkling amiibo). Seriously. It has blaster, fire wall, psi shield thing and non-harmful combat rocket up recovery. Practically useless in competitive play.

That sounds like it would have been a lot of fun! I've always wanted to go to a tourney where I could team up with my Amiibo and fight against other Amiibo trainers. I want to be able to see the tactics and skill of the players and their trained Amiibos. I don't know why they wouldn't allow a custom painted or physically altered amiibo. It's not like you're trying to sell it or anything, you just want to represent your favorite character. I don't think they'd ban you from the tourney for it.

Well one match the player knew he was dragging his ambiibo down. As he lost 3 of his stock and his Kirby amiibo had 2.
While his opponent was on his last stock and his megaman amiibo had 3 and 1 on him.

He kept dying to kirby and kept stealing his amiibo's lives.
So by the end it was 1 stock each with megaman and kirby but kirby was 90% and megaman freshly spawned. Megaman just couldnt get a decent smash as kirby kept recovery.
Eventually it was 150% each and kirby landed the smash for the win

But yeah, just in case I'm getting a link amiibo (wanted it for hyrule warriors spinner) and to not make sure my Splatoon girl amiibo base doesn't go to waste I'm replacing the figure on top with this.

But yeah... I would love to proudly bring my custom Mii gunman to amiibo events and exhibit to nintendo the potential for an inkling character for smash.

That squid girl figure would be amazing for your Amiibo. And that match you were talking about, at least that player learned that he needs to practice with his Amiibo a bit more and he'll probably be ready for the next one. That's why I think Amiibo are so cool. You can train with them, teach them and then learn even more from them. You've gotta post your custom Amiibo on here when you eventually make it.

Stage 1 complete.

The amiibo base is so big I no longer need the rear pole thing to keep the figure up. Plus it can be dismantled for easy transporting.

It should be a working splatoon girl amiibo because not only did the nfc chip remain super intact, but its protected by 2 layers of nendoroid bases and a layer of PVA glue. Its water and air tight. It SHOULD work...but I can't test it until I get the nfc reader for my 3ds.
