What the...! I just went to torrent-finder to see if this was truly real, and my god, it's true.

It won't be long before the U.S. Government manages to get a vicegrip on the Constitution's ideals, and forces the concept of freedom down the sh*tter. What a sad world we live in.

What I find more disgusting is that they are forcing their censors to be enforced around the world, and on what grounds: because they think they own the world? To think, we just may see the destruction of the last vestiges of humanity's grip on sanity the moment They finally create a true "Big Brother"! :O

Actually, I read a bit more. Turns out seizure-warrants were given out for the domain names, so this was perfectly legal and justified. The two links the OP posted were either biased or sensationalist, so they glossed over that. Its not as bad as it seems, guys <_<

Oh. Well, when you put it that way, then I guess it's not that bad in hindsight. So they're only targetting sites that violate copyright infringement and (hopefully) nothing else, right? I can live with that then, though, admittedly, I do hope some of my favorite torrent sites doesn't go, though knowing the government at this point, said sites may very well get axed anyway. *sighs*

That goes along with typical felony charges abroad. If someone is trafficking child porn, for example, the government can easily get another country to work with them.

↑ What he said. In the case of child porn and other deisel crimes, I'm sure just about any country will help the U.S.... except maybe Cuba.

For something like copyright infringement, would all countries be willing to help the U.S. in that regard? Probably, unless said country hates America, like Cuba as mentioned before.

Perhaps not. I don't think that piracy is illegal in a few European countries, but I might be wrong.

Polanski is French, and he fled to France. It wasn't a legal exception so much as a special exception for a French celebrity.

So the U.S. can't censor all the websites they want if the servers are based in countries who don't extradite. Huh, so there's hope for some websites. Admittedly, the vast majority of sites the government is aiming for are sites I care little for. It's just the principle of the thing. It starts off with copyright infringement... but it may branch out into other, more asinine categories.

I just think the US government wants to make enemies with the internet so it can invade it.

So . . . . they got rid of torrenting sites (which are usually used for illegal purposes) and ones that counterfeited? Are there any sites innocent if the majority were for those two purposes?
Not rhetorical

Unfortunate, but if it was seized by perfectly legal process it's not that big of a deal. It's not like they were censoring porn sites for ****s and giggles.

Either way the site I use still works looool

I'm terrified that if the US can find a way to invade the Internet, that 4chan and the rest can find a way out of the Internet.

4chan already is out of the internet, in the form of people doing the things they're ashamed of in private.

Here in the Netherlands it's legal to download whatever you want from wherever, only uploading is 'illegal', but nobody cares so meh...
