Upgrade Windows Key on Full Retail Copy?

So through my school I can purchase a upgrade version of Win 7 Ultimate for CRAZY cheap. The only prob is that it's the upgrade version, and I always prefer to do fresh installs. So what if I used a fresh retail CD I got somehow, and used the product key that comes with a legit windows 7 upgrade copy bought?

aka Can you use a Windows upgrade product key with a fresh retail install disc?

pssst the windows 7 upgrade disk is actually the full install disc

i actually have never used an upgrade disc before. my school gave us win xp upgrade for free and i couldnt boot from the disc so screw that. i have however used the product key they gave us for full installs iirc.

so your saying if i buy this win 7 upgrade, i can format a comp and install fresh no prob?

cause literally, its only $19 for windows 7 ultimate upgrade through my school.
