Unlockables in SSE?

In the Adventure mode of Melee, the unlockable characters and the franchises they
represent had no stages and didn't appear in any of the matches (vs. Yoshi team,
vs. Mario/Luigi and Peach, vs. the Links, etc.)
What will this mean for SSE? The 3rd party characters have already been confirmed
to be unlockable. Will they have any part in SSE?

1. Sonic and Mario are a team in SSE. It was shown in the video Sonic Joins the Brawl.
2. Where do you hear that? There's obviously unlockables! It wouldn't be Smash Bros without it!

Sonic appeared to meet Mario in SSE, and Snake already seems to have a story.
So I think they'll be in SSE.

Maybe unlocking new characters through SE will also unlock more story lines/levels
