Unlockable Extras for Characters..

Some of the updates are making me wonder if Sakurai is planning on having unlockables for the Characters, instead of just the Characters themselves. Possibly improvements to his/her attacks or abilities later on in the game. Such as the Glowing Master Sword for Link, or Fox's blaster. I think there's possibility of unlocking a better sword, or blaster, or much more with other characters later on in the game. This would probably unbalance Smash Bros unless he's planned far ahead of time. It would still be neat, and hopefully a turn on/turn off option. I have seen times when Link's sword looks very different, however that could just be different attacks.
Anyways, Just a thought :/

I wasn't trying to help you, but I can't see any reason to give RPG-like qualities to a fighting game. Not only would it completely screw up tournaments, it would destroy any consistency and make playing at places other than home very different.

Yeah, too many people are trying to add adventure or RPG elements to this game. It is a fighter, not pokemon.

However, unlockable costume changes or unlockable cosmetic effects (Peach's golf swing, Kirbys Rock move), I could get behind that.

However, I'd want to avoid anything that gives one fighter a clear advantage over another fighter.

To whoever said RPG elements or whatever..
...wha?
This has occurred in so many fighting games already I don't see why it couldn't happen. And its not like they would be permanent changes, just alternate weapons.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, a good example is Soul Calibur 2.

Besides JJFMJR even suggested an On/Off option, so I don't see why not.

This isn't soul Calibur and it doesn't work like Soul Calibur...It's a balanced game

i fail to see why not though. i mean it only adds some extra stuff it always can be turned off for tournaments. altough some tiny difrences wouldn't be bad and not something like ''zomg i got supah one hit ko lazerz.'' know what i mean?

Sword users use their swords for every attack...most every other character punches...Gun users would have a clear dissadvantage if they only got an upgraded gun as their weapon because they only use it as one of their special attacks.

what would be cool if there could be a way to unlock diffrent visuals ie diffrent effects of moves it wouldnt change the move but it will change it visualy like charzard instead of red flame he could blow out blue flames or something.

You know...if this were the other forum I go to you'd get half a million flames about since Blue heat is hotter than Red it should deal more damage

Edit: Why did my post have an angry icon on it?

Maybe if you were PT The pokemon would evolve. Or change the most advance to be :009:.
Then :006: could be :004:. just so that they have one high evoled :003: :006: :009:.
Middle evolved :002: :005: :008:. And not evoled :001: :004: :007:

smilies are so cool.

I did have a similar thought of unlocking a slightly different moveset for a character. Anyone played Guilty Gear? In that you can unlock an 'EX' version of each character, with tweaked movesets.
For instance, Link could get Bomblings that walk across the ground like Bob-ombs, or characters that have different movesets in Brawl could get their original moveset unlocked.

Depends on what the upgrades were, costumes and colours would be stellar, but in tournaments, it would be unfair to go up against a character who has a complete advantage.

I don't like the idea of these accessories adding attack power or stats, maybe just being able to unlock a glowing sword or different outfits would be good enough.

Cosmetic suggestions was what it was limited too. It seems every character would have something that could be changed for visual effect :)

Great Fairy Sword vs Butterfly Net isn't exactly a fair fight.
No ****.
An On/Off option was also suggested.

You are an idiot if you seriously think that Smash Bros is a balanced game, or most fighting games for that matter.

Cosmetic suggestions was what it was limited too. It seems every character would have something that could be changed for visual effect :)

Direct quote from you- "'Possibly improvements to his/her attacks or abilities...possibility of unlocking a better sword, or blaster, or...'"

I know I look like a jerk right now, I'm just saying that its been done before. Why not again?
