Disclaimer: I'm aware Snorlax will never be playable. I made this set with the intent to post it in Make Your Move. However, I lost all interest in working on the set and I don't like what I've done so far enough to redo it. I'm posting this so I won't feel like my work has gone to waste, and to show some curious minds who want to see what I did.
Snorlax is the 143rd Pokémon, also known as the Sleeping Pokémon. He eats and sleeps in an endless cycle; if he's not doing one, he's doing the other. It's stomach can digest any kind of food, even if it's rotten or moldy, and it eats nearly 900 lbs. of food every day. His constant sleeping and eating really shows, Snorlax being the heaviest of all Pokémon by far. In his first appearence, Snorlax acted as an obsticle at two points by sleeping in the middle of the roads. The player has to use the Pokéflute to wake him up, then defeat him in a fight after he grumply attacks them for interrupting his nap. Despite this, the Pokédex describes Snorlax as a docile being, even letting children use it's stomach as a trampoline.

Abilities: None
Snorlax is nearly unkillable. He's the heaviest character in the game, and he constantly heals himself while attacking. He's as tall as Bowser is wide, and as wide as Bowser is tall. He has a very good amount of power and priority, no shock there, and above average reach. Snorlax's main concern is sticking around and enjoying a nice nap/buffet rather then fighting, only occasionally dishing out a KO.
Neutral Special = Leftovers
Snorlax plops his overstuffed phany onto the ground. As the player holds the B button, food items appear in front of Snorlax at the rate of 2 a second, and Snorlax happily gorges himself on it. Snorlax eats the food at the same rate it appears, giving anyone who tries to snatch some food for themselves a very short window to do so. Snorlax can also pluck projectiles and regular items using this method, healing 2%. (Yes, even if it's something that explodes.) The items heal 1% each for Snorlax, and their normal amount for opponents.
While chowing down, Snorlax isn't always looking at what he's eating. His arms act as grab priority hitboxes with a full Stage Builder Block of reach. Any opponent unlucky enough to get caught makes an "Oh crap!" expression before being stuffed into Snorlax's gullet. This works like a grab with x2.5 normal duration, the devoured opponent taking 3% damage per second as they try to button mash their way out. When they do escape, Snorlax makes a funny face, then spits them out like a cannon for Medium Knockback, ending the attack.
Medium starting lag as Snorlax sits down to eat, and medium starting lag as he gets back up afterwards. Long starting and ending lag when eating/spitting up an opponent.
[Heals 1% every 0.5 seconds] [Heals 2% for every projectile/item] [3% damage per second]
Side Special = Rubber Belly
Snorlax pats it's belly once, grunting and looking all around annoyed. As long as the B button is held down, Snorlax bounces away all projectiles, items, attacks, and characters that get within 0.3 Stage Builder Blocks of his stomach. Things above or below his stomach or just behind him are unaffected. Projectiles and items bounce off as if hitting Fox's Down B. Attacks and attempted grabs are deflected as if Power Shielded (the latter as if an attack that was PSed), and characters take 12% damage and are pushed 2 SBBs away via set knockback. While this move is in effect, Snorlax can move left and right at half his normal speed, but cannot turn around as long as this move is active. Long starting lag and short ending lag. There is a short lag after bouncing someone/something off Snorlax's stomach.
[12% damage]
Down Special = Rest
Snorlax yawns, then tumbles onto it's back and into a deep sleep. Until the player hits the B button again, Snorlax will continue sleeping even through the most powerful attacks. Snorlax heals 3% every second, and cannot move as long as this is in effect. In addition, any 'status errors' (lasting negative effects like Lip's Stick) instantly end and cannot affect Snorlax until he wakes up. While most of his moveset is unavailable while sleeping, Snorlax can still use a few moves. Long starting and ending lag. His body is a high priority hitbox as he falls; anyone caught underneath him takes 20% damage and above average knockback.
[Heals 3% per second] [20% damage]
Up Special = Glutton's Dream
A thought balloon appears over Snorlax's head, containing a picture of food. A dreamy expression appears on Snorlax's face, and he starts flailing his arms and legs in an attempt to grab the thought balloon. The player can move the thought balloon at the speed of Mario's walk with the analog stick, and Snorlax will follow as best he can at the speed of Ganondorf's walk. Snorlax somehow gains altitude with his flailing if he has to chase it into the air, and will only stop if he catches it, it moves somewhere he can't follow, it moves more then 1.5 Stage Builder Blocks away from him, or 3 seconds pass.
If Snorlax catches up with the balloon, he seizes it with his hands a chomps down onto it. Any opponent in the way is grabbed bitten for 25% damage, their legs humoursly dangling out of Snorlax's mouth. The glutton realises what he's done and sets the foe down, looking as if he's apologizing to them. The flailing does 8% damage and light knockback with very long reach and medium priority. The bite has grab priority and no knockback, as well as long ending lag as Snorlax apologizes. Long starting lag. Short ending lag if Snorlax doesn't grab someone. This can be used while asleep, and Snorlax wakes up after it's use.
[8% Flailing] [25% Bite]
A/AA/AAA = Yawn
Snorlax pauses, then raises his hand to his mouth and yawns loudly. While this attack seems to do nothing, all enemies within 1.5 Stage Builder Blocks pause to yawn as well (things that can't simply stop and shake, as if something's wrong). For the next 5 seconds, those hit will look notably more tired and have their movement and attack speed reduced by 1/3 for every successful Yawn. If hit three times, they fall asleep, with triple the normal sleep duration. Medium starting and ending lag, and medium hitstun. This move is usable while sleeping.
[0%]
Forward A = Apple Core
Snorlax retrieves a Smashball-sized apple from behind his back and swallows it whole. This heals him by 3%, with medium starting and ending lag. However, if there's an opponent within 1 Stage Builder Block of himself, Snorlax pauses before gently tossing it to them. If the apple hits them, it does a meager 4% damage, flinching knockback, and medium hitstun. So it's either a weak healing outdone by all of Snorlax's effort or a patheticly weak attack? What's the point in using this?
Well, if your opponent grabs it and tries to eat it via A button, they'll find it a very difficult task. The character will spend 2 seconds trying to munch through the apple, healing 5% and increasing their weight and fall speed by half and dropping their movement and attack speed by half for the next 5 seconds. Their stomach will also bulge, slightly increasing the size of their hitbox for the duration. They cannot throw the apple away after grabing it, instead having to deal with the indigestion their reflexes have caused them.
[Heals 3%] [4% hitting] [Opponents heal 5% when consuming, but have their stats thrown out of whack.]
Down A = Gentle Giant
Snorlax sits down, taking a breather. Any opponent that attacks Snorlax has their attack countered by Snorlax picking them up. He wags his finger at them, sets them down to his side facing the other way, and pats their head. Snorlax takes no knockback in this stance, but still takes damage. The opponent suffers no damage or knockback, but receive very long hitstun as they shake off Snorlax's overly friendly pat on the head. This does not stop the opponent's grabs, however. Snorlax remains in this stance until the player makes another input. Transcended Priority. Medium starting and ending lag.
[0%]
Up A = Quick Snack
Snorlax pulls out a random Pokéball sized food item from behind his back and tosses it overhead. He opens his mouth and the piece of food falls inside, then munches it hungrily. This heals Snorlax by 5%, but has medium starting and very long ending lag. This move's real purpose is an anti air attack. The piece of food goes up 1 Stage Builder Block before it comes back down, doing 1% damage and light downwards knockback- just enough to knock the opponent into Snorlax's open maw. Snorlax chews any opponent that falls in his mouth with the food, dealing 15% damage before they get spat out 1 SBB away. If Snorlax chews up and spits out an opponent, he suffers very short ending lag instead of the normal amount. The food has pitiful priority, while Snorlax's mouth has grab priority.
[Heals 5%] [1% Food] [15% Chewing]
Dash Attack = Slide
Snorlax dives forwards, sliding on it's stomach at Mario's dash speed. He slides forwards a total of 2 Stage Builder Blocks, pushing away anything he touches as if he were a Bumper item. His body serves as a high priority hitbox, doing 12% damage on contact. At the end of the slide, Snorlax will be left laying on his stomach until ending lag passes, pushing himself to his feet afterwards. Snorlax may perform this move again immediately during the ending lag by pressing the A button, and may turn around using the analog stick during this time as well. Medium starting lag and very long ending lag. This is Snorlax's best way to get around, but is fairly punishable if used willy-nilly.
[12%]
Forward Smash = Body Slam
Snorlax looks angry as he sucks his stomach in, then hops forward and thrusts his girth outwards. The very center of his belly acts as a sweet spot; It doesn't do any more damage or knockback then normal, but any foe hit by it will be stunned and unable to move or attack for 2 seconds. This does 18~32% damage and medium knockback, with high priority. Medium starting and ending lag.
[18~32%]
Notes: This attack isn't anything special, but it serves as one of Snorlax's few straight forward attacks and the long stun is the perfect setup for a Yawn or even a another uncharged Body Slam if the opponent's a low damage heavyweight.
Down Smash = Blow Hard
As this move charges, Snorlax opens wide and begins sucking in air like Kirby's Neutral Special. Items and opponents up to 2 Stage Builder Blocks away are slowly pulled towards him, the pull increasing the closer they get. Snorlax can keep sucking indefinately, though the power of the actual Smash attack maxes out after a certain point. All Items he consumes heal 1%, even if they're of the "explode painfully" variety. Consumed items that heal when used healing the full amount instead. Projectiles still do damage as normal, if only for balance. If an opponent is pulled in, he automaticly performs the smash at full power, with a little damage bonus.
On release, Snorlax pauses and anything heading towards his gullet is no longer pulled in. Snorlax exhales hard enough to create a strong wind on the entire stage from him to the boundry he's facing. This wind pushes everything away from him at 1/5 the force of Mario's Down Special, lasting 1~2.5 seconds. As he does so, a small tornado extends 1 SBB from his mouth, doing 15~25% damage and medium knockback on contact. Any opponent he sucks up during charging is shot out of his mouth like a cannon, recieving 30% damage and above average knockback. Very long starting lag.
[1% of healing per item] [Variable% of healing from healing items] [15~25% damage] [30% damage if sucked in]
Up Smash = Trampoline
Snorlax flops onto his back as if he was using his Down Special as this move charges, and remains lying on his back until the player has him stand up the same way they would if he were knocked down. After release, Snorlax puffs up his stomach slightly. The top of his stomach is now a hitbox that does no damage, instead negating all attacks that touch it (even disjointed ones) and launching anything that lands on it upwards like a trampoline. This does very high knockback, but does not stun/remove from a freefall state any opponents that land on it. Snorlax can activate his Down B while lying down, retaining the effects of both it and this move until the player deactivates the Down Special.
So, what's the point in charging it? During the maximum 3 second charge time, the player can make Snorlax roll over 2 Stage Builder Blocks in either direction by pressing the analog stick in that direction. Snorlax shoves any enemy he rolls over into the ground as if hit by Donkey Kong's side Special and doing 12%. He can hop to his feet with surprising speed by pressing up on the analog stick, canceling the attack and putting him in the position to use another attack. Medium starting lag before charging starts, no lag when activating the Down Special while lying down, very short starting and ending lag when rolling side to side, very short lag leaping to his feet, and no ending lag in any other situation. This attack can be used while sleeping.
[12%]
Neutral Air = Berry Rain
Snorlax shakes violently, flinging berries and dirt out of his fur in random directions. Probably stuck to him during all his eating/sleeping. 5 berries of varrrying shapes and colors and 3 clumps of dirt, all the size of Pokéballs, fly from Snorlax. Each goes 1 Stage Builder Block from Snorlax in the following directions before falling straight down: straight up, up and to the left, left, down and to the left, straight down, down and right, right, and right and up. The berries do 1% damage to any foe they hit, and can be consumed to heal 2% damage. The clumps of dirt do 5% damage, and no other effect. Flinching knockback and low priority. Medium starting and ending lag.
[1%] [Heals 2%] [5%]
Forward Air = Belch
Snorlax belches, creating a Crate-sized putrid brown colored cloud in front of himself. The cloud remains for 2 seconds before dispersing into nothing. When the cloud first comes out, it deals 8% damage and medium knockback. Contact with the lingering stench does 3% damage and no knockback. Any aerial opponent who touches it to enter freefall for 1 second, while ground targets are stunned for 1.5 seconds. Medium starting and ending lag. Only 1 cloud may exist at a time, and opponents cannot be stunned by a cloud until 3 seconds after the effect of the last cloud ends.
[8% execution] [3% lingering cloud]
Down Air = Splat!
Snorlax extends his arms and legs to his sides, and allows himself to descend towards the ground at his normal fall speed, remaining in this state until he lands or the A button is pressed again. Anyone caught underneath Snorlax takes 20% damage and are spiked downwards, or if on a solid platform are buried in the ground like in Donkey Kong's Side Special. If Snorlax lands on a solid platform while in this state, he creates a shockwave that goes out 1.2 Stage Builder Blocks from him in each direction, doing 8% damage and light knockback. Medium starting and ending lag. Snorlax may use this attack while sleeping.
[20% falling] [8% shockwave]
Back Air = Butt Bounce
Snorlax tilts his head back and pushes out his stomach, giving his body an near crescent shape. After a pause, Snorlax thrusts his rear end out in an opposite crescent shape, doing 9% damage and above average knockback. This attack has transcended priority and Snorlax's back half gains super armor for the course of the attack. Long starting and ending lag.
[9%]
Up Air = Open Wide
Snorlax tilts his head back and opens his mouth. His acts as a grab priority hitbox, pulling anyone/thing caught into Snorlax's mouth on contact. By pressing the A button again, Snorlax spits out any projectiles/opponents he ate, the projectile acting as if reflected while the opponent takes 12% damage and above average knockback. Any items are swallowed and heal Snorlax for 2%, unless the the eaten item heals damage normally in which case it heals fo the amount it normally does. Opponents can escape by button mashing with normal grab difficulty. This attack can be used while asleep.
[12%] [Heals 2% or variable%]
Grab = Reach for the Sky!
Snorlax blandly extends his long arm forward as a grab hitbox, holding it out for as long as the grab input is held. The player can move his arm with the analog stick, aiming lower to the ground to grab small foes or above Snorlax to pluck a foe out of the sky. The arm reaches up to 0.8 Stage Builder Blocks away. Medium starting and ending lag.
If Snorlax is sleeping, this input has him reach for the nearest foe on either side without waking up. Snorlax may perform any attack he can normally use while asleep, including several of the following throws as normal. However, Snorlax's grab duration is halved as he sleeps, and if the opponent escapes he wakes up with double his Down Special's normal ending lag. The reach is still 0.8 SBBs away, and the starting/ending lag remain the same as his normal grab.
Pummel = Taste Test
Snorlax holds the opponent in one hand, idly licking them like a lolly-pop and covering them with slobber. This does only 2% per lick at a below average rate, but if Snorlax licks the foe 3 times or more, they have their movement/attack speed reduced by 1/2 for (3 + 1 for every additional lick) seconds after they escape the grab or are thrown.
[2%, multiple hits]
Forward Throw = Finger Lickin' Good
Snorlax's stomach growls loudly. Distracted by the sudden urge to eat, He absent mindedly plops the opponent into his mouth and chews. After a short time, Snorlax realises what he's doing and spits the foe out. The foe may button mash out of this throw as if it were a grab with 1.2x the normal duration. Snorlax deals 3% damage every second, and heals 2% every second as he satisfies his hunger. Snorlax can move and attack during this time, but his movement and attack speed is cut in half, and any move he's using when the foe escapes is interrupted with medium ending lag. This move is usable while Snorlax is sleeping, but he cannot move or attack while asleep.
[3% damage per second] [Heals 2% every second]
Down Throw = Pancakes
Snorlax wobbles sleepily, then falls forwards on the struggling grabbie and any foe within a Stage Builder Block in front of himself. He shakes off the impact and climbs to his feet, suddenly hungry. The opponent(s) are flatened on the ground cartoonishly, gaining Super Armor until they button mash themselves to normal with normal grab difficulty but losing the ability to jump and attack until they do. Those flattened take 20% damage and no knockback. They can, however, slide along the ground at their walk speed until they return to normal. Snorlax can use this move while sleeping.
[20% damage]
Back Throw = Social Sleeper
Snorlax opens his mouth wide for a massive yawn. The grabbie and any opponent touching him falls asleep. He gently lays the foe on the ground, doing no damage or knockback. Opponents affected by this move cannot be grabbed until they wake up. If Snorlax is asleep when he uses this move, however, he lays the sleeping opponent on his stomach (or side if they're too big) instead. The foe's sleeping animation is infinately more peaceful during this move's effect. Snorlax cannot wake up until the foe does. For every second they sleep this way, Snorlax and the opponent heal 5%. When the opponent wakes up, they fall off of Snorlax and onto the ground where they were grabbed. Medium starting and ending lag for both versions of this move.
[0%] [Heals Snorlax and the opponent by 5% per second.]
Up Throw = Food Toss
Snorlax casually throws the opponent overhead. The opponent goes up a set distance of 2 Stage Builder Blocks before falling back down to earth. Until they start their decent, they cannot perform any actions and until they land they cannot jump. When the thrown foe lands, they recieve 5% damage and 1.5x the normal landing lag. This has short starting lag and no ending lag. If Snorlax uses the Up A, Up Smash, or Up Aerial on the foe before they land, the attack does double the normal damage and knockback.
[5%]
For the next 10 seconds, food items rain from the sky at a constant rate. Snorlax constantly reaches out towards any food, items, projectiles, opponents, etc., his arms acting as grab priority hitboxes with a maximum reach of 0.8 stage builder blocks. He can grab things at the rate of 4 per second, and food rains from the sky at the rate of 3 per second, focusing within 2 SBBs of Snorlax. Anything he grabs is stuffed into his mouth, healing 4% per food item, 3% per projectile or normal item, and 15% per opponent. Opponents eaten by Snorlax respawn as if they lost a stock, but with no stock loss and 30% more damage then they had before. Snorlax cannot use any other attacks while this is active, but his movement speed in air and on the ground are doubled and he recieves no knockback or hitstun. At the end of the duration, Snorlax falls asleep as if he used his Down Special. All players, regardless of if they're allied to Snorlax, can grab the food items and heal 3% each.
[Heals 4%, 3%, or 15%] [30%]
This may sound broken due to all the healing and damage, but Snorlax can never KO with this attack and is left mostly vulnerable afterwards. To add to this, Snorlax can't use his recovery while this is active.
Snorlax's stats are that of a typical heavyweight. Big target, poor recovery, slow, laggy, heavy as hell, powerful attacks, decent reach, good priority. The main difference is the attacks. Snorlax may very well spend more time healing then actually fighting, and that's exactly what he should be doing. Each healing move with the exception of the Down Special have an extra use in some situation, allowing him to fight and heal at the same time. Combined with his various ways of negating damage, knockback, attacks, grabs, and projectiles, Snorlax is nearly unkillable.
Between his high lag and having to use his attacks in specific ways to actually do damage, Snorlax doesn't have many ways to directly fight the foe. Instead, he should reduce their attack speed and movement or disable them outright with the Neutral A, Forward Tilt, Down Tilt, Forward Air, Down Air, Pummel, Down Throw, and/or Back Throw. An uncharged Up Smash can potentially knock the opponent into the air long enough to activate one of Snorlax's main healing moves. Slower opponents, like other heavyweights, can be hit with a short series of uncharged Forward Smashes
Snorlax has very few ranged attacks. Use the Side Special to approach, or the Neutral Special or Down Tilt to force an approach. The Down Smash can yank a projectile spammer into Snorlax's range or force them to waste time getting in position again. Because of his many ways to eat projectiles, enemies will find it very difficult to fight at a distance. If opponents are still wasting time trying, use the Neutral Special to heal and block projectiles at the same time.
While Snorlax is designed to be an iron wall of defense and should act like it, he still needs to KO to win. The way you go about actually fighting depends on who you're up against. When dealing with lightweight opponents, Snorlax is better off using his Down Special and soaking up hits, using the Neutral A whenever possible. When the opponent falls asleep, wake up and unleash a fully charged Forward Smash or plop down for lunch using the Neutral Special and 'accidentally on purpose' snatch up the foe. If you're high on damage, keep sleeping instead to heal your wounds. When you're ready, immobilize the foe with the Neutral A and slam them with a fully charged Forward Smash to KO them.
For heavyweights, play aggressively. Use the Side Special to approach or to slowly push them back, then use the Down Special + Neutral A combination to put them to sleep. Grab the sleeping foe and use the Down Throw to flatten them, then follow them and get ready to use the Neutral Special when they pop back up. Once Snorlax shoots them away, resume eating until they start their approach, at which point you should go back to the Side Special and repeat the process. If they manage to get around this method, take advantage of most heavyweight character's slow attack speed with a series of uncharged Forward Smashes or use the Down Smash to hit anyone staying just out of reach. If they manage to get up close and personal, interrupt their attacks and grabs using the Forward Tilt, then push through with the Dash Attack or knock them away with an uncharged Forwards Smash.
No matter what kind of foe you're fighting, Snorlax is an excellent gimper. Send the opponent flying with a Down Smash, activate the Neutral Special to grab the foe whenever they get near the ledge, or move him to the edge of the platform with his Side Special. If an opponent can get close without using their Up Special, however, they can use it to punch through. Just because you're a good ledge camper doesn't mean you can just push the opponent off stage.
Grabs are by far Snorlax's greatest bane. Grabs can go through many of Snorlax's defenses and are the best ways to deal damage to Snorlax besides Smashes. When being approached by a grab centric foe, use the Side Special to to bounce them away or face them while using the Neutral Special to make approach too dangerous. If you can't get around it, try to use the Forward A just as they try to grab Snorlax to punish them for doing so.
Down Taunt: Social Sleeper
Snorlax lies down for a nap, relaxing. If there is a sleeping character nearby when this is used, Snorlax smiles, gently picks them, and places them on his belly. The character's sleeping animation when this happens looks vastly more peaceful. If the opponent is too big (like Ridley, lulz) Snorlax simply sets them on his side. When they wake, they roll off Snorlax's side first and are back in the position they fell asleep in, giving this Taunt no practical use. Unlike the Down Throw of the same name, this heals no damage.

Standards:
[12%]
Smashes:
[12%]
Aerials:
Grabs/Throws:
Pummel = Taste Test

!!FINAL SMASH!!
-(Buffet Line)-
-(Buffet Line)-
For the next 10 seconds, food items rain from the sky at a constant rate.
Playing as Snorlax:
Playing against Snorlax:
Easter Eggs:
Down Taunt: Social Sleeper
Snorlax lies down for a nap, relaxing. If there is a sleeping character nearby when this is used, Snorlax smiles, gently picks them, and places them on his belly. The character's sleeping animation when this happens looks vastly more peaceful. If the opponent is too big (like Ridley, lulz) Snorlax simply sets them on his side. When they wake, they roll off Snorlax's side first and are back in the position they fell asleep in, giving this Taunt no practical use. Unlike the Down Throw of the same name, this heals no damage.
