Hello, I am Chase (tag: Viceroy), part of the UMW Super Smash Bros. Club, and we will be holding our first Smash 4 tournament this Saturday (1/23)! Signups will begin around 4 and ANYONE is welcome to enter!
We have more information about scheduling and location on our Facebook event page, which you can find here!
https://www.facebook.com/events/1648072818778011/permalink/1649212508664042/
If you have checked the link, you will also see that we are also hosting tourneys for Melee and PM so if you're into that, you can enter those as well!
Now, here are the rules for Smash 4:
Tournament format:
If 8 people or less enter, Round Robin
Over 8 people enter, Double Elimination
Singles - 2 Stock, 6 Minutes
Items - Off and Frequency - None
Custom Fighters - Off
Damage Ratio - 1.0
Amiibos are not allowed
All DLC characters are allowed and the most current patch will be used
Mii Fighters are legal - 1111 Default Size only
All sets are Best of 3 until top 8. Top 8 will be best of 5 (subject to change in case we run late)
Pausing during a game will result in the loss of the “pauser’s” stock unless allowed from TO or other player.
Legal Stages:
Neutral Stages:
Stage Striking - Players engage in a battle of Rock Paper Scissor best of 1. Winner strikes the first stage. Loser then strikes the next two stages. Winner strikes the last one effectively choosing the first stage they play on. (1-2-1)
When choosing a stage, the player cannot choose one they have already won on during the set
Between each game -
All controllers are allowed (including the Gamepad). However, I STRONGLY urge you to bring your own. It is not the TO’s responsibility to provide anyone with a controller. It is also not the TO’s responsibility for any controller or console getting lost/damaged/stolen. Be responsible.
The winner of the set must report the results to the TO.
In the event of a timeout, the winner is decided by stock count then by least percentage.
In the event of a Sudden Death by SD/KO (example: Kirby inhales and jumps off the stage, killing both players at the same time) a 1-Stock, 3-Minute match will take place to decide the victor.
If you are new to Smash tourneys, I KNOW! Seems like a lot of rules, right? Well, don't worry. The atmosphere is nice and friendly, and if there is any confusion at any point during your time at the tourney, you can ask me and I will be more than happy to help out!
Hope to see you guys there!
