So. Uh. Hello? I'm not very good with introductions. Um
I guess you probably want to know a few Smash things about me? Well, I first got into Smash Bros in the mid-2000s with Melee. I wasn't even aware of any competitive scene yet so I definitely wasn't competitive myself, but it still became my favorite game of all time for a while. I was super crazy hyped when Brawl came out, and I played it more than any other Wii game I owned. Then I began to get into other consoles and started to move away from Nintendo stuff as a whole, and kind of lost interest in Smash Bros in the process. But then years later when Smash 4 came out, I got it and it reinvigorated my interest in the series, and now it's my favorite game series again! I only recently started paying attention to the competitive scene, which just kind of happened naturally after wanting to get a little better at my favorite game and discovering a bunch of guides and tutorials for the game
When it comes to being competitive or casual Smash player, I'm not sure what to describe myself as. I feel like I'm kinda stuck between being casual and competitive. I don't really think of myself as a casual player (I don't like items or wacky stages, I like 1 on 1 stock matches, I play to win, I like learning how to play the game efficiently and skillfully), but I'm definitely not good enough to be considered a competitive player either (I have no idea how to implement even basic and fundamental tactics and strategies that most high level players use all the time, and I constantly make very basic noob mistakes that you're never supposed to make). It's also kind of frustrating when I'm looking for people to play with, because I don't really know what to look for when searching online for players around my skill level. There's not really a catchy word for a player like me, like "casual" or "competitive", so I don't know how to find players like me
I joined this forum for two reasons. First, the forums I go to right now are kind of dying, so I'm looking for a new internet place to call home and meet some likeminded friends (and I figured a Smash forum would be a great place to look). Second, I'd like to find some people to play Smash with, since I don't really have anyone I can play with right now. Though to be clear, I prefer to get to know a person before I play Smash with them, so I'd rather not have a bunch of people sending me Nintendo IDs apropos of nothing
My main for Smash 4 is pretty easy to figure out (hint: he's in my avatar). My other mains are Greninja, Marth/Roy/Lucina, Corrin and Bayonetta. I don't really play any of the other games right now, since I can't really play them online and have no way of playing them with others in person
Wow, I wrote a lot more than I expected to. Err...sorry
(BTW, I don't really know what the signature policies are here. I'd like to use a picture for my sig, but it's fairly large and animated and I don't want to break any rules right out of the gate)
