UMC v2.0b Alpha release

here is the alpha release of my converter...
I'm releasing this only for my method of vertexing

my converter (with the exception of normals and UV's) officially works better than Will's
thus will be easier to use for vertexing....

quick overview before clicking:
this gives you my program,
as well as other resources needed for my method...
you will need blender for my method (preferrably 2.49)

note: this is only an alpha version so don't be surprised if you find any bugs
I did my best to eliminate most of them though >_>

I blame typing everything in green and honestly looking a bit noobish.

But regardless, good job, I hope this allows people to make even better models.

I do it so everyone can (somewhat) understand me

I really DK how to act like a complete pro though XDD

and I type everything in green, well...
just because I'm a Dark Pika fan... heh :awesome:

still though...
that shouldn't really bamf me from being a developer if I post enough pics of most of my projects 9_9

it does say Smash Developer somewhere on my profile page though >_>

You should hover over one of the icons that are next to your name and read what it says. We don't have a name color anymore, so if that's what you're looking for, you're not going to find it :p

on another note...
I've fixed my Melee script a little,
but I still need to fix the root (base) node sections so it's not only using the first root node,
and then stopping with the rest of the lists being NULL :glare:
(I think I have an idea to fix it)

hopefully I'll be able to release another version...
(well, just the plugin anyways)

*sigh* I need a better way to load my global data -_-
anyone wanna help with the format at all?? >_>

Under the User CP there should be a thing on the sidebar on the left called "Group Memberships". At the bottom of that page there should be an option to identify you as part of the Smash Developer group.

thanx :)

for my converter,
right now I'm working on figuring out the transforms...

I'm not applying them strait from the mdl0
instead, I'm gonna log them in the tmp and apply them using the obj plugin
(yes, even though obj is a very simple format, it'll still deal with everything used)

also...
I'll be adding obj to the import section on my next release
^this is for a stage building method once I figure out how to actually build a working mdl0

I'm building my global format around the mdl0 format btw...
I'll expand it when I get more formats.

if anyone would like to help,
feel free to pitch in with ideas and what not :)

We can understand you even if you stop acting like a noob. To be taken more seriously, type correctly (good job so far), try to talk like less of a kid, lay off the smileys, keep your text color sensible (I was never a fan of people who speak entirely in colored text, but I'm not going to say stop altogether).

Again, good work, I want to see this put to use.

ehm, i followed your tutorial, but i'm having a problem. i used your script, exported the mdl0 w/ a .obj after the name, opened blender and imported, but all i get is a little orange dot. i'm a complete blender noob, cuz i use 3ds max, but unfortunately, i need a new vetexing method if i am to vertex the golden hammer.
so:
1. Why is it an orange dot and how do i make it into a model?
2. How the heck do you move in blender?! i can't find anything telling me how to move the viewport.

well

1: I do try to type correctly...
but I end up short-typing alot because I'm on my chat like 24/7

2: I talk like a kid because... well for alot of reasons actually
- it secludes me from other "normal" programmers (yes I tend to get annoying at times)
- it helps make friends (and unfortunatly... gain fame >_>)
- it helps to generalize things to where noobs can understand
-- I can go on

3: I have been laying back actually...
it's just a habbit I picked up to show how I say the line of text

4: my text color isn't changing -_-
it's kinda a signature thing, and the color of my website and forum
out of 9 forums I attend regularly, only 5 of them have green text (the others have black)
my chat even has green text

just remember, i'm a blender noobie. i like 3ds max. also, i'm looking into seeing what i can do about using 3ds max in conjunction w/ your method. so far, i have lucari model that looks vaguely the same, except it's all sharp edges and points. exactly like that TL sword that one guy did.

I guess...
scale it down to 0.0001

that should get it to moderately viewable
edit it and what not...

then scale it to 1000 before exporting with my script
(all you have to do is type in the value after hitting S on the entire selection)
select all by hitting A

MAKE SURE YOU'RE IN EDIT MODE WHEN SCAILING

other than that,
that lucario model ended up the same as TL's sword?? :/
hmm...

I'll see if there's an error I overlooked in my export script
that may be what's causing the prob >_>

ah, thanks. hopefully i can get it working.
but no, your script works fine w/ blender. i tried saving the model in blender as a different format, and then opening in 3ds max. it turned out as one object unfortunately, but was all spikey w/ the same general shape. just an experiment.

yea... I just looked over my script...
it's not the prob...

so yea... there's a data error going on somewhere...

kinda like what you saw me do to Pachi after replacing the data >_>
I think that prob originated from the MDL0 coming from a different game
IDK though
