Out of Obscurity
Well, I've got a pretty big computer problem here.
Yesterday, my dad installed Norton Anti-virus (Comcast was offering it for free now) on my computer. My computer actually JUST started having some issues with constant pop-ups and stuff (that bypassed my normal pop-up blocker, of course) while browsing the internet so I was grateful for this. A few restarts later, Norton had solved all these issues, and it felt great, finally having anti-virus software good enough to let me not worry about a virus or any other computer problems from sneaking up on me.
Or so I thought.
Some hours later, my computer was resetting for no reason whatsoever. For the first restart or two, I thought it was just Norton doing it (I was away for a few minutes whenever the computer restarted, funnily enough), so I ignored it. But it restarted again, and then I got worried.
I talked with my dad about it, and we tried lots of stuff to see the origin of the problem, we found nothing of note. We decided to run a disk check to see if the hard drive had any problems. When the disk check finally finished, the results were displayed. As soon as they were displayed.... the computer reset, obviously it wasn't supposed to.
We looked at everything after that, but we just couldn't find anything wrong. Eventually we gave up and went to bed (It was like 11PM when we finished trying all this).
So, today, got up, went to school, came back, went on the computer, and suprise suprise, the computer was off. I turn it back on, it boots up, but then....
Windows doesn't load.
My first thought was ".....Did Norton... fry my motherboard or something?", but I really don't know.
I never had a problem with my computer restarting until Norton was installed on it, so I'm thinking that Norton might have been a catalyst for SOMETHING, I'm just not sure what.
Anyone have any idea what might happened though?
