Uh-oh! My 3DS Circlepad ripped!

There goes my Circlepad. It started as a tiny tear on the side, but it has eventually torn off due to the small incision made in the material.

The Circlepad itself works perfectly fine; the material has just been ripped. Does anyone know how or where I can purchase a new cover for the Circplepad without buying a completely new one?

Thanks!

Hm, I'm not sure if you can just buy the cover itself, but I'd try ebay to see if they do. If not, I think the price for the actual circlepad isn't that expensive if it comes down to it.

That's totally true, but it isn't price I'm too worried about. I haven't ever taken apart a 3DS before and I don't want to risk losing a small bolt or not doing something right while trying to put a new Circlepad in, causing an even bigger issue. If I were to get a whole new one, do you know if it is possible for me just to take the cover off?

Lastly, I can purchase Circlepads somewhere conventional like GameStop, right?

The circlepad is pretty fragile, there are a bunch of pictures on the internet with exploded pads. But yea, there are some spare parts to sell on some websites, but I believe you will need to open up your 3DS for that. Or if you still have the guarantee you can get it repaired by Nintendo.

Some kind of plastic film dried and started cracking/peeling off on the cover of my 3DS, I have no clue how tho.

No. You'd have to purchase them online somewhere.

Amazon has them: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00R...circle+pad&dpPl=1&dpID=31jBjWXrnjL&ref=plSrch
Thank you so much for the link.

That's odd. It's almost like Nintendo purposely makes these things last only so long so you're forced to purchase a new one. I could argue that for any piece of technology, though.

I contacted Nintendo Support due to the B-Button on my 3DS suddenly not working (I actually did not do anything to cause this), and the guy on there basically told me to just buy a new one and was actually irritated with the fact that I was asking him how to repair it. I'm not looking forward to speaking with them again so I might as well just invest in a New 3DS, or some upcoming handheld. Making phone calls like that make me anxious anyway.

I remember when me and my friends got DS when they first came out. My screen ripped off, and all my friend's shoulder buttons were not working. Meanwhile, my two Gameboy are still working 100% well, even though they went through worse than my other consoles.

But yea, the customer support lmao. My suggestion is to keep calling them until you find a good one, but it's awkward on the phone. I remember when I used to play an online game, I would get on a chat with a bunch of friends and contact the support, finding excuses to get free currency for the game - and it worked. Good old times.

Nowadays Nintendo seems to be unreachable though. Trying to contact support is like going through a maze to discourage you.

Tell me about it, man. I went through, and I am not exaggerating, four DS Lites before I found one that was not messed up in some manner without my doing. I took one to a repair shop because none of my games were playing, and when they gave back my DS they said there was nothing wrong with it, and even they didn't know why it didn't work (still got charged). The one I have now I have had for years, and thankfully still works perfectly. I had my 3DS XL for about a year before the buttons quit working (it was one week over warranty when it happened, just my luck), and now the Circlepad ripped, although that's replaceable. I hadn't damaged the 3DS at all and the buttons actually started to act up during a week of inactivity with the system.

The person I talked to consistently interrupted me and cut our conversation short. I was as respectful as possible, and even after saying, "Have a good day," he mumbled, "Mmhm," and waited for me to hang up. He did not provide me with his name, though I probably wouldn't have done anything anyway. Whatever, maybe he was having a bad day.

I'm considering just buying a New 3DS. Do you know of any upcoming handheld systems in the 3DS family? With my luck, I'll buy a New 3DS the day before the new handheld is announced. Just want to be sure.

But it's expensive. o_O

Wait for more info on the NX, just to be sure. Although they already went through their "update" (which means a larger screen), so I doubt a newer version of the 3DS is coming. But I suggest getting a 2DS, those are quite sturdy and come in dank special editions for the same price. :083:

The only times I contacted Nintendo customer support have been positive experiences. We contacted them once when the GC's optical reader went on the fritz and once a few years later when the Wii had the same problem. They were like "Just send us the console and $XX (can't remember the actual amounts, but GC was cheaper) and we'll fix it up for you." We sent the consoles in, and got each of them back one or two weeks later. They both still run perfectly 5-10 years after the repairs. To hear that their service has gone so far downhill is a bit shocking.

I may have just got someone on the other end who was not in the mood for conversation that day. Perhaps if I were to call again I would come in contact with someone who would help me and give me options.

If you say their service has pretty much always been positive, I would be inclined to say the majority of the people are very helpful, but I just got unlucky.

Either that or they've gotten worse since I last used them many years ago.
