Smash Master
Dialga @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP/120 Spd/56 SAtk/80 SDef
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Dragon Pulse
- Thunder Wave
- Substitute
- Stealth Rock
easily the best starter in the current metagame: the idea is to Thunder Wave the opponent to permanently incapacitate them and lay down Stealth Rock afterwards, which is great in ubers for wearing down on Kyogre's Water Spout and fliers like Rayquaza and Lugia, among others. Dragon Pulse for STAB and hitting the majority of ubers hard, while Substitute is useful for stopping Darkrai after I take the Dark Void and paralyze it.
You may wonder why Chesto Berry and not Lum Berry. Well first off, Sleep is the only bad status that really affects how this Dialga works, so that's a non-issue, and I'm all special, so Burn isn't either. I can't get Poisoned so really the only one is Sleep. "Isn't it better to just use Lum, still?" Well, lets assume I vers a darkrai starter: it tricks, and I just Thunder Waved. Lum heals the Paralysis and now I'm stuck on that move. It's still faster, so it will be free to Dark Void me afterwards.
Latios (M) @ Soul Dew
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Dragon Pulse
- Grass Knot
- Hidden Power [Fire]
Choice Specs Latios, minus the lock into a move and a great 1.5x boost in Sp. Defense. Generally I just bring it into Groudon and Kyogre and force them out with Grass Knot. However, I usually Dragon Pulse which, with SR up, 2HKOs Lugia with a followed up Draco Meteor afterwards. Hidden Power [Fire] for Scizor and Metagross, and it works better since I'm generally coming into Groudon.
Clefable (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs:
Docile nature (neutral)
- Endeavor
- Toxic
- Protect
- Encore
My favorite pokemon: in ubers, if the opponent sets up your dead, so this is why I put this here. It's a nice "momentum swinger" for when I get into a bad pinch, and if I keep ahead it will always be there to "seal the deal".
Forretress (M) @ Occa Berry
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP/96 Def/160 SDef
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Gyro Ball
- Toxic Spikes
- Rapid Spin
- Explosion
Toxic Spikes are deadly in ubers: with pokemon being common such as Palkia, Darkrai, Kyogre, Groudon, Mewtwo, and even Blissey, who's really to argue? The Occa Berry makes this a great switch-in to any kind of Rayquaza, and allows me to explode on random troublesome pokemon. Rapid Spin is helpful because SR users don't last very long, Giratina is no where to be seen, and my last two pokemon are SR weak and it's helpful to keep it off the field, along with people who use regular spikes.
Rayquaza @ Choice Band
Ability: Air Lock
EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Outrage
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Extremespeed
Choice Band Rayquaza is beast, able to sweep and revenge-kill on a moments notice. Dragon Claw is there so I don't get locked in while Outrage is great for getting 2HKOs on Lugia and Groudon, among others, while also scoring a OHKO on the majority of pokemon without and setup at all.
Abomasnow (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 44 Atk/216 Spd/88 SAtk/160 SDef
Hasty nature (+Spd, -Def)
- Blizzard
- Leech Seed
- Substitute
- Focus Punch
Don't laugh: it's resistances to Water and Electric make it a key member to the team, as well as the ability to heal up other members through Leech Seed and break common walls.
