Types of GCC?

A few weeks ago I played with a GCC which felt very different from my own. I have 3: 2 silver and 1 black. They play essentially identically.

Then I played with an indigo one. It was also official, but the face of the joystick felt different, and the stick itself played differently. It seemed... less responsive. Like when I flicked it I would t immediately dash, and it was easier to do tilts.

So my questions are this: are there actually multiple versions other than color for official GCC, and if so what are the differences and which is better?

It might have just been an old controller.

However, apparently the new white ones (associated with Play Asia) and the Sm4sh controllers have some minor changes in regards to their shoulder buttons and the springs in them, but it could just be a rumour.

Every batch of official Nintendo controllers have different feels to them. It's just a consequence of mass production. Different qualities of plastics are settled upon due to prices and availability over the years and the same applies to circuit boards and metal pieces. Mostly these changes are subtle such as how much action shoulder buttons have to how durable the padding on the controller knob is. None is better than any other and the differences are so negligible it's a moot point of discussion. Just use whichever feels better to you but remember to not get too attached to any one controller or you'll have a hard time adjusting to a new one further down the line.

Huh.... makes me wonder if it was just somehow favorably broken.
Well, thanks for the responses!

It's probably due to wear and tear and probably date manufactured. The newer PlayAsia controllers somewhat have a different sort of feel to them compared to the original GCC. Was it your controller or someone else's? Each controller gets broken in according to the player using them, so it's why everyone prefers to just use their own.

The newer white ones and Smash4 controllers actually do not have a metal-sort-of lever that is attached to the shoulder button. It can cause problems such as the shoulder buttons getting stuck if you don't press them directly downward (happened to me). I pretty much just moved the metal lever over to the new controller and haven't had the problem since. Other than that, the stick feels tighter, but that's because it's a new controller and it's been a long time since I've had a new GC controller haha.
