Turning Elite Smash off?

So I just unlocked Elite Smash for the first time, and I am really happy to have reached that milestone. But I want to practice more characters than just the one character I hit Elite Smash with, yet I cannot find an option to go back to regular online match making. Am I just blind? Or is it just hidden?

You can still select any character. Selecting a non-Elite character will let you know Elite has been disabled.

Yeah, even though they're grayed out on the select screen, you can still select them.

Not really the best design choice, to be frank. Would've been much better to just put an elite icon on the characters that have it, like they do when displaying that character's GSP.

Or with a ribbon; like the one you see when you clear a character's classic mode.

The current design makes it seem like people are stuck with one character and probably discourages them from playing online. The UI decisions in this game have been quite horrible.

I find it surprising that people have such problems with this. I admit that the interface is a bit misleading but they do not even try selecting another character. As soon as you try it it will succeed.
