Turning around without running/dashing

I have been having much trouble even since melee, being able to turn around WITHOUT having to dash or run
I understand that if you hit the stick ever so gently you can turn around but in a game where the pressure on you is tense I always find myself trying to turn around and end up dashing instead

Is there tip or secret that will help with this?

I actually just discovered something interesting
I you tilt the joystick up and diagonally, even if you do it fast the character will only turn around

You just gotta tilt the control stick in the other direction....

You said you wanted to turn without dashing.


You tilt the damn stick in the other direction. You just gotta do it, even under pressure. Hitting it in the other direction will always result in a run.

thats a great technique but I was hoping for a way to turn around without moving the character at all
