Hey guys. My character keeps turning around when I wavedash backwards.

I find this doesnt happen too often in melee which makes it easy to wavedash back and Dtilt with marth. But that becomes so difficult in PM cause i keep turning around when I wavedash.

anyone else have this problem?

If you're wavedashing out of a run, make sure to do the wavedash stick input after jumping. This is because of a Brawl mechanic inherent to PM that treats jumping while in a dash turn as a reverse jump (where as Melee still counts you as facing forwards even though you're visually facing the opposite direction). It's often referred to as RAR (Reverse Aerial Rush), but I prefer to call it by its technical name Dash Turn Jump.

There's not a difference between how wavedashing works in PM and Melee, it's you. You're doing something differently, for some reason.

Actually wavedashing is one frame laggier in PM than it is in Melee. This is due to the 1 frame momentum delay- In melee you land back on the ground instantly since the airdodge momentum is applied the first frame- technically, you are never even in the air. In PM, the momentum isn't applied until the second frame, so the frame after your jumpstart is spent in the air, in the first frame of your airdodge animation, then the momentum change is applied the second frame, making you land on the second frame after your jumpstart. So the 10 frame landing lag of the airdodge, which is the endlag of a wavedash, happens one frame later.

TL;DR wavedashes are actually 1 frame slower, if anything, not doing a turn around after your wavedash should be easier
also, this is what makes WDs in PM look a tad sloppier than they do in Melee

You know, I've been playing since 2008 and I never knew what RAR stood for...thank you kind sir.
