I've been playing this game for 9 months, I've tried to stick to fox falco marth jiggly c falcon pikachu shiek mario/doc samus and ganon

It just seems like I can't devote my time into them, its like I get bored or frustrated with any character I decide to stick with for a week and swap again, currently I'm on marth and falco but falco's tech is giving me trouble with my hands and marth just feels a little uncomfortable to play

I'm guessing this isn't normal, how should I go about choosing a character to play? Has anyone else had this problem? is this even a problem????? I love this game and I want to stick with it but I can't just find the character for me, what should I do?

Keep playing against people so that it's painfully obvious who you're best as

This is just me personally, but it took me a year to figure out my main. I questioned it for a few years. I'm certain of it now

Should I play the charcter I'm best at? Fox has to be my best but playing him he has to be one of my least favorite characters

The characters people are best at tend to be their favorites to play as

Try playing less technically as Fox. It'll be easier on your hands. Only do things you need to do

I can relate. I like playing the roster. It's really helped my fundamentals, but it's always a tough decision when it comes time to pick a main, and I've cycled through Peach, Young Link, Marth, Mario and Doc over the past two years. It eventually came down to who I enjoy playing as the most. Most of my friends are better than I am and my Marth is the only one that can really compete with them, with my Doc being a close second (and, admittedly, I probably know more techy things with Doc than I do with Marth).

Anyways, my own story aside, I'm going to give some cliche advice here: Play the one you have the most fun with. If you're the best with Fox, that's all well and good, but if you don't have any fun what's the point? Why would you play a game you don't enjoy? Is winning that important to you? Probably not. And don't get me wrong, winning is a ton of fun, but not at the cost of hating the game. I don't know how good you are, but at your level of play (and mine too, I'm not trying to condescend), the tier list is probably a lot less important than it is at top professional level. You don't have to focus on Fox for pure wins. Especially if it's causing you real physical pain and you're not getting any enjoyment from it.

Here are some "pick a main, already" questions I got from some friends when I had my own existential smash dilemma:
- When you watch tournaments, which character hypes you up the most?
- What kind of player are you? Defensive? Offensive? Campy? Flashy?
- What comes naturally to you? Are you tech heavy? Do you like projectiles? Are you comfortable off the ledge?
- Are you a heavy hitter or do you have a need for speed?

And some less gameplay-related questions:
- What's your favorite Nintendo game?
- Are you more of a weapons guy or a fists guy?
- Finesse or brutality?
- Sci-Fi or Fantasy?
- What would you rather fight: 100 duck-sized horses, or one horse-sized duck?

Kind of a long read, but I hope it helps.

Just use a character that you can control well enough that you don't walk off the stage all the time. Personally, for a new player I'd use Marth or Falco, maybe even Jigglypuff. But Fox is just too fast for a new player.
