Smash Journeyman
So the trophy shop is pretty simple, but unique in the Smash series. When it was announced on miiverse, it was sort of surreal, because it sort of seems like buying collectibles instead of unlocking them (wait, that's EXACTLY what it is...) This happens in a lot of games though, but the concept in my opinion, doesn't work too well here.
Well we always get multiples, we all know that. I think it's actually pretty cool that certain trophies have "values" to them (like a goomba being a lower value, and a highly stylized trophy costing a pretty penny) I wish there was a more radical version of this put in place to accomodate the latter portion of our trophy collecting
-More common trophies cost less ore the same ad of now, but more rare trophies appear cost more, allowing early users to spend more on these trophies. This gives more sense to quality in these trophies, and keeps our coin stash low. This also makes us our coins actually seem like currency than useless rubble late into our trophy collecting.
-More rare trophies appear more late into the trophy collecting. This isn't to say the shop will always be full of new trophies, but it will at least make us check back often. Like I said, the trophies will cost more based on their rarity, so we still might have to conserve coins for them.
This is all just an over-simplified version of what I think is the ideal trophy shop. I know I'm only taking into account my primary concern, so I know there are flaws somewhere in my argument. Alienating new and unexperienced players is probably a reason as to why the trophy shop is the way it is, but I can't say for sure.
Also, are there any specific trophies you continue to buy even after having them? I just bought my fifth Groose trophy, and I always pick up Hades and Pyrrhon on the 3DS whenever I see them (are they on the Wii U?) Comment on your ideal trophy shop, where your collection is at, and what trophies you still pick up.
