Trophy idea...

So in gameXplain's Rayman Trophy discussion video they mentioned a rather fun idea for trophies.

They called it "Friends of Nintendo." It's a trophy collection of third parties that aren't playable but still appear in Smash in some form.

Now this, in my opinion, falls under over saturation of third party representation in Smash. No matter how fun the idea would be.

But i'd like to see what you guys think of this and what trophies you'd like to see.

I'd want Bomberman to get a trophy since he'll, sadly, never be playable despite how close he was to Nintendo.

I'd enjoy such a thing, because honestly, a Bomberman trophy sounds like a much more valuable thing to have than a Lip's Stick trophy.

I wouldn't consider "Friends of Nintendo Trophies" 3rd party oversaturation. Old SNES classics like Bomberman, or Simon Belmont or a Blackmage would be awesome! They had their beginnings on a Nintendo console. But if they throw in Kratos from God of War, Master Chief, or Big Daddy of Bioshock, now that would be oversaturation.

A Banjo & Kazooie trophy would be cool though!

Wait, Master Chief and Kratos are 1st parties of Microsoft and Sony (respectively). Are they even considered 3rd party to Nintendo?
And Big Daddy doesn't belong anywhere in Nintendo. Even though I love Bioshock, that's crossing the line just a bit. He didn't even belong in Playstation All Stars. He seems more of an Xbox guy honestly. But that's a rant for somewhere else. And then there's ....

I found this game at Gamestop once for $0.99. Didn't buy it. It seemed like a waste of a good dollar.
Pacman assures me that they go with the classic and most iconic designs.

I don't think anyone should be thrown into the Smash Bros Games, but a couple of trophies wouldnt hurt, especially if it were big games from Nintendo's past.

Actually, Tetris is a Nintendo franchise. Tetris is highly prostituted, but in a list of Nintendo trademarks there is the original GameBoy game. In fact, A Theme and B Theme are both in Brawl.

Every single right over NES and GB versions are exclusively related to Nintendo. So they can use the name, the "characters" and everything else like they wish. "Tetris" itself belongs to Tetris Company (which isn't Nintendo), but those games are only Nintendo's. That's why you can hear A and B Themes in Luigi's Mansion stage.

I think this would be a great idea. There would have to be some Dragon Quest for the Japanese fans at least. Probably Simon Belmont, Snake(RIP), and Ryu from Street Fighter as well. I am sure we will get plenty of Namco/Capcom/Sega references as well.

Yes. Slime is from Dragon Quest. They are the franchise mascots.

I think that is a brilliant concept, although I can think of few names lamer than "Friends of Nintendo". There are a lot of third parties characters and franchises that really feel like extended members of Nintendo's family, especially from the NES and SNES days. In addition to Rayman, I would personally opt for some of these guys...
