Tricks to mess up their DI

THis could go in general sextion, but since I´ve tried this with marth only (and a bit luigi).

Anyway, there are situations like you´ve popped your enemy in air from a dair. you want a KO and you´re playing against good people that can do DI.

Here´s something I´ve tried: you wavedash under them and fsmash them to the other way!
or after you daired them, WD under them, jump (and bair, not necessary) to a upB sweetspot.

This is probably better against space animals due to their horrible reaction time, still they have to be at decend percents, but not too high cause then you can just kill them with tippered fsmash regardless of DI.

also nonsweetspot bair seems to work as a good setup for upB against mid-fallers (sheik, marth, doc, DK etc.)

Just some nuggets of wisdom, feel free to discuss.

I often do the wave dash underneath them to forward smash and it works pretty well, especially when they DI perfectly into a tipper. I have yet to try the up b sweet spot though.

that sounds like a good trick to use.

the only DI tricks i try to use are when they are grabbed and just keep kneeing them till they start to freak out on the controller to get free. odds are when you do throw them they will be freaking out rather than DIing properly and into an attack or something easy to combo

I've done that to my friend so often that when I grab his Falco on Final Destination he doesn't even try to get out of knees, which helps damage wise quite a bit.

Also, this is probably more of a mind game, but every time I grab him at a some what low damage near the edge, he naturally DI's off the the stage to get away from the chain grab so I typically wave dash short hop b-air or d-air if I'm facing away or wave dash fsmash, ftilt or dtilt if I'm facing in the same direction.

Yeah, the higher levels where you play, this stuff gets really important.

Watch CJ survive perfect tippers against EK with good DI.

Your attacks should always be as unpredictable as possible, but some people are just really good at DIing.

I mainly try to mess with people's DI by grabbing and throwing immediately or grabbing and changing up the throw to where I believe is the opposite of their DI.

Good trick: run at a person and go right past them. Crouch cancel your run and hit them with a tipper forward smash. It works amazingly well on certain players.
