Alright, Ridley and Duck Hunt Dog anyone? And if they finished the localization, shouldn't we be getting it this weekend as Japan is?

I do find it a bit strange that if they're playing a fully localized final build of the game, we aren't getting it till October. But, I imagine that it isn't actually fully localized, just the main Smash stuff and possibly some single player things. Basically whatever they are specifically going to show us.

Doubt we'll get any sort of reveal though. It's not an international thing, and even though Shulk was announced during that Japan only Direct, it was still a Direct.

Tbh it's probably the japanese version or the version that ESRB was getting for rating, which the english translation wasn't complete and had errors.

It's most likely fully playable, but contains localizaton blips or something.

Or, like Brawl, they're just delaying it to ramp up physical copy production and/or buy some temporary eShop server capacity to handle the onslaught.

No, they definitely finished the localization. All of those trophy descriptions in the leaks were already complete, the name changes (Bowser Jr. instead of "Koopa Jr."), etc. It really does not take that long to translate it. Truthfully, we should be angry that we have to wait 2 extra weeks for nearly no reason.

I do think they should show the hidden fighters, they can't be that oblivious to the fact people will know because of the Japanese release. They may even just add the hidden fighters to the hidden website (albeit with ? symbols like in Brawl) so yeah...

As much as I agree, I expect it's still due to physical copy production. That, or maybe they're just being slow about fixing NoA's part of the Nintendo Network to get ready for the stress.

There's a lot of server-side stuff that Japan can put up with (helps that they're a denser are and thus typically can use a smaller number of far stronger servers) that America and elsewhere may have issues with. That would also be a very valid reason to delay, we don't wanna crash the eShop again and also be unable to play online just because Nintendo wasn't ready.
